can anyone recommend a better cooler?.. ones as beefy and silent....

That is way too hot. Have you ever tryed to re-apply the hs/f and as5 etc.
Maybe try the zalman?

dude ive tryed everything.. it idles at 66.. and all i can think of is that this cooler just sucks under high intense load...

Have you tried a Zalman cooler?

My buddy had the same problem as you, along with many others with a NV5 cooler. The NV5 is known to not seat properly against the chip. Yours is probably not seating against the chip and there is no contact between the heatsink and the chip. Heat is not dissipating as a result.

That is way to hot. Blow your computer out to make sure there is no dust in it. Make sure there is good air flow inside your case.

You might want to try a Zalman vf-700cu cooler or try reapplying the thermal paste.

yeah dude... im no n00b... my case is really clean... the gfx cooler has a little dust in it but not enough for this load temp... i can admit i got a small dust problem near the front of my case where the hard drives are.... on the other hand its better then the stock coolers 114c, could it be that i just got a Card that runs hotter then normal when OCed?... i was also pondering the fact that my CPU is close to my video card ( like a inch apart) getting a new cpu cooler ( thermalrights look damn sexy) would probly be better on my video card cooling.... i think im going to get anouther Video card cooler.. probly that zalman.. even tho how goofy they look...

Hmm try playing around with extra fans you might have, and make them blow the hot air(55C ambient) surrounding the card outside, that made my temps go down 5C on load.

I have a 6800 GT myself and it runs a little hot though mine peaked at 81 before i took control.

my solution? i went out and purchased a new case with better side cooling. some new dust issues from the perforated case aside; it really seemed to solve my heat issues. there is now a fan pulling air out of that little heat pocket under my vid card and blowing it all right out of the case.

oh and to locate those trouble hot spots, you can't beat a digital thermometer, make sure you get one capable of reading air temperature.

I own this one $23 @

that was with my case fans on high, sorr i should have sayed that.. i think my case has great cooling.. in sig ( antec P160) i have put extra fans in the case blowing right on the card and its a 120mm and its always on high ( silent pushes about 60-70)..

but about that cpu cooler mod.. could that need a change.. cause if a SLK 120 it would have a beefy fan and cool my card just a bit more.. then if i do get that zalman you think it will all even out?.. i know this card can go high rtemps ( like i sayed it topped out at 114c on stock cooling running rthdble) but im still pondering the fact that .. is my card a high temper?.. or does the NV5 silencer just suck with Overclocks?
