This is where I am at.

Purchased a Samsung UN32EH5000 (32" 1080p LCD LED), it is naturally a 60 Hz monitor however it has a True Motion feature. When I enable Vsync caps the FPS at 120 instead of 60.

- I get input lag playing PC games unless I use "PC" Mode
Ok fine, not sure what PC mode did to take my input lag away but it helped.

- However, I ALWAYS play my PC games with Vsync enabled because my PC is pretty good which = super high frame rates and massive screen tearing.
Ok, so when Vsync is enabled and it takes my FPS to 120 I get MASSIVE input lag

I can only guess that True Motion has something to do with this, however in the options menu I can only find LED Motion Plus, and have tried this option both on and off with Vsync and neither way has helped.

The input lag makes games unplayable, I can play them smoothly with Vsync off however having 500+ FPS gives me annoying screen tearing.

I tried Samsung's helpline but they weren't able to help too much I think because no one I talked to was familiar with using their LCD TV with PC Gaming.

Help Please :]

Ugh, now I am really confused. This whole time I was testing all these settings with Team Fortress 2.

I turn on Battlefield 3 with Vsync enabled and it caps it at 60 FPS no screen tearing and most importantly NO INPUT LAG.

So why would TF2 be using the True Motion garbage capping at 120 FPS with massive input lag....

I've recently bought a Sony 20" KDEX series HDTV for gaming and yeah, there is input lag when you enable the motion plus modes (albeit Sony's equivalent).

HDMI cannot do more than 60hz no matter what, so with these TV's 120hz+ motion modes they 'upscale' the framerate which inherently means increasing the input lag + the added time it takes for the TV's hardware to process the interpolation.

The "Game" mode is there for a good reason - use it! It disable as much as the TV's processing as it possibly can to give the lowest latency. The motion plus modes are for movies only.

vsync capping the fps at 120 shouldn't be possible like you describe it

also vsync as well as frame interpolation modes always cause additional input lag
the best way to prevent tearing is getting a device capable of 120hz i/o

The latest form of HDMI can do 1080p at 120Hz; both the video card and the display must have 340Mhz HDMI 1.4a link chipsets. The AMD 7970 has that. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, no display manufacturer has chosen to make a TV or monitor with them. Should they ever choose do that, there will certainly be a megathread here about it.

So, to the OP: your TV never did display 120Hz from the video card, because no TV is capable of doing that. The massive input lag is a result of the failure to do so.
