My plan over the past few weeks has been to upgrade my CPU and motherboard from an Athlon 2500+ XP to an Athlon 64 3200+ Venice. The only problem I am encountering in making my final choices is my limits on motherboards. I currently have an Nvidia 6800gt AGP card that I planned to use for my new system, and I was reccomended the MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra as a motherboard.
The problem I am facing is that down the line I won't be able to upgrade my video card because, by then, AGP will likely not be supported. Thus, I'll have to invest in a new motherboard at that time, along with the trouble of putting together a system again.
Would it be wise at all to sell my 6800gt AGP card and then buy a 6800gt PCI-e card so I could go with a PCI-e mobo now? I know I'd lose money, but it'd make the future upgrade path a ton easier.
