Well I just got my new comp all set up (upgraded from a mobile 2500+) Now I have some problems, I have to re-learn the whole BIOS but for some reason I cant figure out what kind of settings I should be doing. So far I got it to boot at 220FSB but other than that I have know idea what voltages i should be increasing and what I should be doing to the memory timings. Anyone out here have the same setup as me (mobo and cpu) if anyone wants to help me out that would be great cause right now I am confused.

I only changed the cpu voltage eventually and ram voltage as shown in my sig. Then other then that i had to change the divider for the memory from 2:1 to 5:3 once i hit over 220 mhz or i'd get errors up the wazoo in memtest!

EDIT: Forgot important note. Even with the latest OFFICIAL 1007 bios until u hit 1.6v in bios the cpu voltage does NOT increase as u will see in the hardware monitor! Apparently 1009.002 i think it is fixes this but i'm waiting for a OFFICIAL version since i have no need for less volts anyways.

Well since i am at your same stage and no one here pays attention ill try to help you my best...

first off you need to have good ram.. the best ram they used was the ocz 3200 plat rev 2... thats what they got to 2.61 on anandtech.com.. second your going to have to make sure you have a good power source.. besides that onto the overclocking..

your going to want to have your fsb being raised.. you can also look on a few websites to check what timings they used for their overclock... ill give you the link to the anandtech review.. alot of good information. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2242&p=7

and this is the memory they tested on overclocking this will help you set up the timings and so forth... http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2226&p=12

also if your using your stock heatsink you are going to have trouble getting a good overclock... besides that try raising the fsb until it is stable.. if u are using crappy ram this may affect it... also there is something called the htt multiplier.. .on the 90nm its stock at 1000 so it is 5x 200.. your going to need that to drop down to 4 or even 3 to get a good overclock.. dont bother with 2 because everyone including anandtech has said that 2x is very unstable and didnt work well... also make sure you loosen your timings on the ram.. i dont know EXACTLY how to step you through this but you are not going to reach ddr 600 at 222 5 timings....besides those few things you can also up your ram voltage.. . dont go past 2.85 from what ive seen.. also you can up your cpu voltage... if all goes well you should get atleast around 275fsb you may also have to tinker with your memory divider.. because at 275fsb (front side bus) you are going to be running ddr550... so if ur memory cant handle it you can use the divider which makes it run slower... (which isnt good but tinker with it)..

try some of this stuff it doesnt work your going to need to ask someone with more knowledge than me... im just trying to help :)

oh yeah btw make sure u are checking your temps.. goodluck..

My temps and stuff are fine, I think my setup is pretty good. Its a whole dangerden watercooling setup. At stock speeds the CPU was running like 30C lol, very cool. I have 430Watts to use so I am sure I am fine there too. As far as ram goes, I have the same HardOCP put on their 1500 dollar comp (corsair XMS C2P2) I really cant figure out this BIOS, I used to be able to change the RAM timings and have only 4 things on the screen, now there are like 15 or something lol. I really want to figure this out but for some reason I cannot figure out why my comp isnt posting when I OC it past like 220... Anyone know what part in the BIOS i can change the FSB/RAM ratio. Thank you for all the help.

Same place as where u set the memory timings i believe its the 2nd option down AFTER u turn off the 1st one from auto to manual. 2:1 being full 400 DDR and 5:3 is one step lower which u should drop after most likely after 220 incase things get funky. And as far as the ram goes i have the answers for u since i had to go through this same headache. Normally say u get ram that says 2-3-2-6 for settings. Now in the bios its (in that same order as above), CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS. Good luck! And remeber to disable 2T to force on 1T for more speed BUT that may also make u not be able to boot! BTW u shouldn't need to drop the HTT on this mobo to even 4x but u can as 4x/3x is for the nforce3s but we for some reason don't have to do it as like i said i run 240 fsb fine at x5 and i've seen others doing over 270 with x5 too! :p Also remember one more detail. Ram that ran say 2-3-2-6 on a xp/p4 setup will NOT run at those settings anymore because the onboard memory controller runs things alot harder so u gotta drop to like 2-3-3-6 to be stable or maybe even more. My current ram (in my sig) ran 2-3-2-6 in my xp box but now 2-3-3-6 and even mushkins website shows this info! =)

EDIT: Also take note that the last 2 settings for the ram tRP/tRAS are back words in the bios as u'll see after comparing what i wrote but it is correct as was told to me on another forum by a few members! =)
