some temp issues with e8600

i have looked and haven't found a good answer,

as seen in title, i have the e8600 with a thermalright U120e and i am either getting user error or i am just dumb....


the temps under load and often not under load are a bit different, as is

idle
Core 0 = 34
core 1 = 31

under full load on both
core 0 = 45
core 1 = 37

Core temps being different is completely normal. My i7 core temps usually vary within 4 degrees of one another.
 
variable core temp are usually from the good ole un-concentric heatsink to Cpu surface area. the area on you cpu die is probly off by a couple thousands of an inch, so it sets the temperatures on one side of the cpu hicher more than the other becuase the sink had uneven pressure on both sides of the cpu die face.

Lapping fixes this but I would recommend it if your not experianced in this field.
 
Maybe you could try just turning the TRUE 180 degrees around and remount it if you don't want to lap it.

What for? His temps are fine and having separate temperatures for the cores is perfectly normal.
