My dad is taking my vaio and in return he's buying me a 2.4C, cd-rw and some other stuff in return.

I got multiple questions.

-Whats a good <$40 cd-rw drive?
-How do I know if the 2.4c I'm buying will get past 3Ghz?
-Will a 2.8C yield a higher max overclock?
-Since the vaio will be the only wireless computer, which is better B or G?
-A 9600Pro or a 9800SE? I heard the 9800se is better than the 9600 pro when overclocked....or is this wrong?
-Will a slk-947u without a fan cool good? or should i buy a decent 92mm fan?
-Whats a decent <$15 keyboard?

I can answer a few of those:

-Whats a good <$40 cd-rw drive?

Lite-On

-How do I know if the 2.4c I'm buying will get past 3Ghz?

You don't.

-Will a 2.8C yield a higher max overclock?

You mean a higher max clockspeed? Probably.

-Since the vaio will be the only wireless computer, which is better B or G?

G is faster, more expensive.

-A 9600Pro or a 9800SE? I heard the 9800se is better than the 9600 pro when overclocked....or is this wrong?

I dunno

-Will a slk-947u without a fan cool good? or should i buy a decent 92mm fan?

Use a fan. ESPECIALLY if you're going to overclock. Put it on a rheostat if you're worried about the noise.

-Whats a decent <$15 keyboard?

Spend $20 and get a Microsoft keyboard. I've never had problems with mine. Some of the Logitechs have problems in games when you press multiple keys at once.

I'll fill in the gap.

9600SE - I don't know if this would be better than the 9600Pro overclocked, but the 9600SE is cheap for a reason, it uses a 64-bit memory bus while the 9600Pro/XT both use 128-bit buses.

I'd say 9600 Pro.
