Some MCP655 pump questions

Just a few questions about the swiftech MCP655 pump....

1) Can it be mounted on its side?

2) Is it possible (and how easy) to put a 90 degree fitting on the top?

3) Does the unit create a lot of heat? How about vibration?
 
1) Sure, orientation makes no difference, I would however avoid a suction down position.

2) The barbs are fixed, you can't put it directly on the pump, you would have to go: >pump barb > tubing > 90 degree > tubing

3) Alot of heat? No, it dumps approx. 16w of heat to the loop, gets warm to the touch. If mounted in a smart manner, bolted down on some neoprene or foam it won't vibrate much if at all.

What I was thinking of doing is mounting the pump on its side in the hard drive cage of my case (3D Aurora) to save a bit of room, and running the tubing thru the holes in the side of the cage, what do you think?

If the top of the pump is the intake for the pump, you definitely don't want a 90 degree fitting. If its the outflow side, you can get away with it, but as stated above its restrictive.
 
Somewhere in this watercooling forum I remember reading a guy had found some 90 degree angled fittings but they made the turn rather gradually rather than the sharp stuff that typically see. I thought I'd bookmarked it, but I guess I didn't... Sorry! :(

If you go to the hardware store Copper tubing 90 degree fittings have a sweeping bend whereas the propylene fittings are a straight up 90 degree bend. You could also get 2 45 degree copper elbows.

I emailed swifttech about mounting on its side awhile ago and they said it was no problem.
