Some issues with my 5970

Hey there guys, I'm having some problems with the performance in my 5970 rig as described in my signature. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

I have done a fresh install of Windows and slapped on the 10.9a cat with 10.9 CAP (as opposed to 10.5a which gave me better performance yet slow load times). However, Bad Company 2 just isn't giving me the performance I see other people get. I am always below 60FPS in the middle of maps where most people spend their time. Sure, when I'm looking out into the ocean or another outer edge of the map it jumps to 200~FPS, but that doesn't help me when I'm playing the game.

Here are some settings I'm using
1680x1050
I have steam community disabled.
16 AF
Application settings AA -> 1x in game
A.I. To standard
All maxed settings in game

Sig doesnt show for some reason:

Q9550 @ 3.4
6GB OCZ RAM 1600 DDR3
EVGA 790i FTW
XFX5970BE
Fatal1ty XFi Soundblaster
Thermaltake 800W PSU
I'm probably leaving out a lot of details, let me know if you can give any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Change the Direct X settings in your config file to 9 or 10 and see what happens. I had performance problems with 11 for some reason but, the other two seemed to make it run a bit better.

The 10.9a hotfix drivers were released as a specific fix for users of 4870x2 and 4850x2 cards that fixed a multi-GPU issue. I don't believe they were ever intended to be installed on other cards such as the 5970 and might be giving you strange results. You should try the regular 10.9 drivers.

I tried installing new drivers for the 5970 but BFBC2 seem to always have performance issues.
10.5a has worked just fine with BFBC2 for the 5970 for a long time. Slightly longer load times in BFBC2 but no issues.

Since I'm putting BFBC2 to rest, I will go with 10.10 when released.

RailGunRiz, the point of buying a 5970 was to use its DX11 capabilities with DX11 games.

GotNoRice, I understand, but I had installed the 10.9 drivers (same bad results as 10.9a) then I uninstalled those, cleaned my system, and installed 10.9a. Didn't notice any change.

WorldExclusive, I had been using 10.5a like you before, but those drivers give me a few issues in games like Starcraft 2, Medal of Honor, and Dead Rising 2. I heard some people recommend TwL modded drivers (using a 10.8 base) from the Guru3D forums, but I've also been seeing many people say they get good performance from 10.9. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

I tend to miss big details occasionally :)
