Some help with my new display

I've recently been given a really nice Dell monitor by my friend who didn't like the display for some reason saying it looks dirty (he must be blind it's the cleanest looking display I've ever used) to replace my ageing monster sized 22" CRT. I was amazed at the colour accuracy on the LCD and the viewing angels are good, I was told it's Full HD resolution but the image is slightly blurry, I've tried 1336x768, 1280x720, 1280x768, 1600x900, 1650x1050, 1768x992x 1920x1080 and 1920x1200, all of them look slightly blurry (as if not at the native resolution) and all are on 60Hz refresh rate, I'm using a display port cable straight from the monitor to the PC. The thing is a beast as well, i think it's either 25 or 27 inch.

here is a close up photo i've taken of the display set to 1920x1080 at 60Hz, which looks like it's not squashed (1920x1200 looks like it's being crushed)

I'm using a GTX 470 graphics card. I'd like to know if there's a way of making it look sharper or is this just what the display looks like?

Model of the monitor might be useful? If it's ~25-27", you're using displayport and 1920x1080 makes it look blurry, then my guess is U2711.

Try setting it to 2560x1440. Bit of a bargain to get that for free!

That actually worked! thanks mate! It doesn't have a modem number on it, DELL written at the bottom

I saw that resolution there but I didn't want to try it in case it damaged the display or it was "out of range" and i wind up not being able to see anything to change it back :D, Didn't think LCD displays went above 1920x1200
