Some hellp With a scanner.

I got this scanner for fathers day from my wifes cousin, they did not give me the software that came with it, i asked them for the software but they aparently lost it, because for one, they dont have a PC, second they know nothing about pc's and since he is only 16 and not in to computers so he gave it to me. so i got to downloading some drivers for it, but i still need the program to run the scanner, could some one hellp me out with the set up, the wondows add remove hardware wont take the driver because the one on the database of windows drivers shows a different model, but when i point it to the driver i downloaded it wont take it, it tells me that the driver i pointed it to does not have the information required.

basically i need the program to run it, the scanner is a UMAX Astra 600 S.
ofcourse i allready googled for it and it took me to the site from the manufacturer but after i entered all the info it got to the part where i have to enter the serial number of the product, and i entered the serial on the back of the scaner but it did not accept it, it told me it was invalid.

ok, i tried a different aproach, i went to the device manager, and to the properties of the scanner, since this scaner is a 600S, the driver it has is a 600P, so when i went to update the driver and chose to display list of drivers it shows the 600S but when i select to change it, my computer just restarts automatically, and when i go back to look it still shows the 600P, but if i remove it and try to reinstall the driver form the ones in windows it does not show the 600S, so where are all the drivers stored?
Maby i could just go to choose location and selected from the database of windows drivers.
