I'm thinking of getting two 6800 Ultra's to run in SLI. But with the rumours of new cards just around the corner, would this be a mistake? Just how much of an improvement are the new cards going to be over this generation? And how far off are these new cards from being on the shelves?
Also, does anyone have any experience with powering a 1920x1200 resolution? What kind of benchmarks are you getting? With either a single card or an nvidia SLI setup, I'd really like to know the framerates.
And last, For those of you with an nvidia SLI system, is it possible to have a third video card to power a second monitor? Are there any conflicts? Does it matter if the PCI card is an ATi or Nvidia? Meaning is there a problem with mixing brands in the the same sytem?
One more.
Is the cooling on the 6800 ultra loud? Would it be better to switch it out with an NV silencer 5 or Zalman VF700-Cu? With these cooling solutions attached is there still enough space to fit two cards on an SLI board?
