I have a X6800 right now and I'm thinking about buying some new ram and maybe replacing my X6800 with a Q9550. Should I just stick with my X6800 or get a Q9550? I don't care for the new intel cpu's yet. I use my pc mostly for gaming.
 
Yeah I'd save the cash and duke it out with what you have, it's good for a while yet. Personally I'm itching to upgrade to i7 but I'd rather wait with Westmere (32nm) in the very near foreseeable future and even Sandy Bridge (32nm with new architecture) down the road I seriously think my current build could make it through until then. Not to mention see what AMD with their rumored AM3 has to offer... my .02 cents
 
Yeah I guess I'll wait another couple of months to upgrade. Thanks for the help.

Your system is plenty fast, wait it out and do a full platform upgrade when the time comes.
