I have the Swiftech Apex 120 kit with a mcw55 vga block, system specs are in my sig. On my old system (XP 2700+, no vga block), I barely got above 40C at load with the fans on the rad at 7v. Now, I have the fans at full blast and I'm hitting 53C at load. Does my x2 and 7800gt really dump that much more heat into the loop? I was planning on overclocking both the x2 and the 7800 (I may still do the 7800, it's only like 31C at load) but with the temps that high, it seems like a bad idea. Any suggestions?
 
either you have a bad set on the chip or your temp is wrong. Try feeling the water tubes...Do they feel warm?

I think you are probably ok though.
 
have you tried the usual lift and re-seat on the CPU block?

with the VGA card, you have more heat load in the loop than you did before. i don't think that you should be getting up to 53 all the same. given your low GPU temps i don't think that it's the pump or rad limiting you wether the lift and re-seat helps or not.
 
Just thought I'd let you guys know. I was still thinking there was something wrong, so I used some clamps I got at Home Depot to isolate my Storm block so that I wouldn't have to drain the system. I took the Storm apart and sure enough, some of the jets were clogged, I would say almost a third of them. So I blew them out, reinstalled the block, and viola, 36C max on load. Woo hoo, a 20 degree drop in temps. I guess the blocked holes were killing the flow in the loop. Now I get to overclock :D
