This might be of help to some.
I bought SCDA the day it came out. I installed it and when I tried to run the single player it would give me a crash window and then when I clicked on that one it tell me about some C++ runtime error.
At the point I had installed the version of DX9 that came with the game and before even installing the game had installed the ATI 6.10 driver for my x1800gto.
I then completely uninstalled my ATI driver throught "Add Remove Programs" I then used Driver Cleaner Pro to make sure it was completely removed. I rebooted, and re-installed ATI 6.10. I rebooted and then went on the web and download the latest version of DX9 (10/10/06 release).
This solved my crash problem. I don't know why my previous version ATI 6.10 and the DX9 on the CD didn't work, but now I can play SP (btw... I could do MP right out of the gate with no problems... go figure).
