I have an odd issue where I am playing a game and out of no where the video card fans go 100% and the screen loses signal. I have a x99-deluxe, 32 gigs of ram, ax860 power supply, and a Strix GTX1080. This started on Thursday and has been getting progressively worse. I went to microcenter and replaced the video card. It is still exhibiting the same issue. I have the computer in a corsair 570x with a h100i on the front two fans if that could make a difference. Sometimes it does this right when I launch a game and sometimes it lets me play a little bit before it happens. Could it be power supply, motherboard, or maybe cpu?

If I suspected hardware I always look at the PSU first. Usually by swapping it and seeing if the problem goes away. It's usually the PSU.

Thanks. I just got a new Seasonic power supply. I hope thats it. Frustrating since yesterday it let me game all day long without issues.

Update
Pulled out the ax860. Pieces of the plastic on the pcie power connector stayed inside the power supply and smelled burned. Replaced it with a new seasonic power supply and all is good.
