Ok, first off I was wanred agaisnt buying an asrock MB, up until now I have been very happy with it. Below are the problems I am now having.

1. “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered”

2. Game freezes randomly (Could be hours later, could be minutes into playing).

3. Screen goes weird colored/black, and LAGS (Framerate) badly.

4. I sometimes have to restart my motherboard built in LAN by right clicking and choosing detect problems (Could be my cable?)

5. In the warzone in SWTOR where you fly down to the 3 cap points people's capes stretch to the sky (Haven't noticed this any other place).

6. Once I got weird round circle artifacts on a wall that was remedied by restarting game.


All temps/voltage is great.

No OCing at all, on the cpu or vid card.

PSU seems to be doing very well.

Never bsod or crashed other than the SWTOR ones.

I have an RMA I will be shipping to newegg (Motherboard) tomorrow, but maybe it's my 8 month old nvidia 460gtx?

I seem to get less problems when putting all the settings on low but it still does it.

A motherboard model would be helpful.

Also give your psu.

Test a different video card.
Uninstall/ reinstall video card drivers.

Add an Intel 10/100/1000 NIC.

Forgot to mention I tried all kinds of different drivers to no avail.

Don't sent the motherboard back until you know it's the cause.

I would love to test everything and I 100% agree about not sending it back but I have 4 days before my 30 day to return is up. I kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.

What I plan to do soon is:

Put my other MB back in and run SWTOR non stop to see if I get the same issue. If I do it should be the video card because the PSU is brand new and voltage is steady (No other crashes). Then I will know if it's the mb or not. I will have to do the windows thing also.

Oh bummer for me 8(

I am new to intel so forgive me for a newb Q, but do I have to disable the on chip hd graphics that intel has because I have my own card? I notice it in the device manager.

Or did you just swap the motherboard without reinstalling Windows?

What was your previous motherboard/cpu?

There is a good potential that Windows is crashing because you switched motherboards without reinstalling Windows.

Please reinstall Windows and use newest Geforce drivers before sending your motherboard in.

No, you don't have to disable the intel integrated graphics, the motherboard automatically detects the Geforce 460 and uses it. However, it doesn't hurt to disable Intel HD graphics. Select "PEG" device in your BIOS as your primary graphics.

Long story and I normally wouldn't do what I did but:

I had a gigabyte mb with an AMD, and same gpu. I tried just dropping the new one in and all was good but my usb wouldn't work. What I did next was partitioned and made a G drive for the new mb and cpu.

I know right? :)

It worked fine for almost a month with 0 issues, but the last 5 days have been getting worse and worse.

I thought by doing the partitioning it would negate the old install but as I looked at my swtor install it was on the C drive and not the new G drive.

I will follow your directions before sending it in because that seems to be the logical thing to do in this case heh.

I still feel it's a hardware issue but there's only one way to find out. :)
 
You're welcome. Actually, I've run into that problem before and had been lazy.

But I've also switched from an Intel P55A to P67 and maintained the same Raid 0 setup with windows install and never had to format the hard drives or reinstall windows.
 
I hope this is the problem, would be such a good ending to this mess hehe.

I left one detail out.

I always watch my motherboard/cpu/gpu temps and one day only I had no mb temp; it's like it had a faulty sensor.

*Crosses fingers.
 
Now it's screwing my movies up.

I am backing up things but anything video is screwy. 8(

New nvidia drivers just came out too.
 
Ok, did a complete reformat/reinstall and I still have the same issue.

Tomorrow I will put the old computer back together and reinstall all the stuff again and see what happens......
 
I have the same motherboard for my 1045T X6 and runs great, and asrock for my intel.

It could be the motherboard, but as others have said, could be other hardware, or even drivers. I didnt see a case listed, so maybe its overheating?
 
Was a bad video card as I thought but wasn't sure.

It was so bad my onboard/chip Intel HD 3000 keeps up with it lol, so no gaming lost! :)
