Software utility that monitors system calls etc.?

I'm wondering if there is a utility out there that will let me see all the calls the windows XP operating system recieves to different parts of the system such as the registry, DLLs, etc. It would or possibly could tell me all the changes an exe is making to the system such as the files it is adding, the registry changes, the registry reads, the kernal calls for specifc functions etc. etc.

Anyone know of anything like this? Or is this just some unobtainable Holy Grail that has yet to be done such as a program the reverse engineers software.
