Software to test memory cards for errors?

I was wondering if there was a way to test memory cards for errors. Maybe it writes completely to the card and reads it for comparison or something.

we talking SD cards? not sure if you can run a chkdsk on them

Yeah, SD cards. Have 3 cards and I can't determine if they're reliable or not. Maybe I could fill it up with a giant file and copy it back to my computer to see if there's any difference. Do that a few times maybe. Would that be a sufficient test?
