Hello all!

I have a close friend who records streams and recently got a deal with twitch for their streams (online poker).

The issue is their rig is having some issues and before going and spending money on new gear I wanted to ask what people may have with experience relating to the better or well known apps to use in order to record and upload to Twitch?

Right now they are using a program called XSplit:

https://www.xsplit.com/

But it is maxing out their CPU to 100% often (Intel i5), causing everything to slow down and the app to often crash, thus resulting in potential lost revenue.

They upgraded their vid card to an 980x but seem to not make a difference. I am reviewing XSplit app now to see if perhaps they don't have it configured right or not optimal for their rig but in the mean time i wanted to ask [H] crew if they know of, or know anyone who does twitch streaming and what kinds of apps they might use to record their sessions?

They just reached out to me so I want to make sure what might be recommended is best. I am setting up this software in my home lab to find it's limitations and go from there.

OBS https://obsproject.com It's free. They actually recommend it right on twitch if you go to one of their help sections.
You can configure it to encode using your graphics card so it has almost no hit on performance.

It's what the majority of streamers use.

^^^ This.
I don't think I've seen a streamer that wasn't using OBS Studio.
