I am using Windows Server 2k3 to set up a softare RAID0 array and it is taking almost 24hrs to format them. The drives are 2 160gb 7200 ATA drives. Is this normal? If not, what could be causing the extremely long format time?
 
I'd say that's a little longer than I'd expect, but not much. Partition Magic may be able to create the partition faster than that, if you have it.

 
doesn't sound very normal at all. does it show the status percentage? is it increasing? you might want to check your event viewer and see if you are getting any errors that are not being reported actively.
 
The percentage is showing and is still increasing, just very slowly. The event viewer does not show anything abnormal.
