What does everyone use at their work place for software management?

I'm talking about tracking Software, version, serial number, user etc.

Right now everything we have here at work is tossed into an Excel spreadsheet and it's horrible! I'm looking for something where you can search by software name, user name etc.I'd like it to be open source but something paid won't send me running.

I've been using the free version for over a year now, and it's awesome for a no-cost product! It has been really useful, and I wanted to support them so I just purchased the Premium version yesterday (pricing is extremely reasonable I might add).

I'll take a look into those products to see if thats what I want. Can you manually enter information for software and information that is not currently installed or that it cannot detect?
