You know how theres hardware fan controls (like the nexus thing from Vantec) where you can manuall adjust fan speed...is there a software version of that where one can control the fan speed in windows? I want to control my radiator fans speed not using a nexus but in windows...is there a product that allows me to do that? For example, If i wanted to go to sleep and have my fans quiet, I can adjust them to slow down, or if i wanted to game, id turm them up to 12v. Thats like how I would use it.

There are a few ways to do this...

First off depending on your motherboard (I don't own a DFI), you can set rpm values. I have the Asus SLI Premium and it comes with monitoring and control software (Asus Probe) that you can access in windows.

Second some pumps come with usb control software like the Asetek 12v Integrated Pump/Res, which gives you total control on fan speed and monitoring in windows.

Thirdly the fans have to come with rpm monitoring at least so you can connect it to your motherboard.. Most 3 pin fans have this but many don't.

And last SOME gpu manufacturing companies have 'tweak' utlities that let you control fan speed including case fans (guessing about the case fans).

Hope this help...Good fortune and cheers... ;)

Try 'speedfan', should work with your DFI board. Worked with my old DFI NF3 Ultra. 'Motherboard monitor' is an alternative but I've never gotten it to work properly.

yeah, speedfan does wonders, its doesnt technically support my Epox, but still runs, and detects my cpu temps and i can still control my fans.

So even though the radiator fans are connected to standard 3 pin connections on my mobo (all the way on the bottom), using speedfan I can control their speed? Im not sure if they come with the 3rd line for RPM monitoring but even if they dont, I can still turn everything full up to when im gaming, normal when im just doing anything, and silent when im sleeping, regardless of Rpm..this is just for sound. If speedfan doesnt work, are any of these good for controlling fan speeds?

This is what I got, it comes in silver as well.
Sunbeam
You have total fan control speed meaning 0-12v. Some fan controllers only allow you to go from 7-12v like the vantec nexus. On the Sunbeam when you're at or above 7v the corresponding led turns blue, if its below it turns red. If your case doesn't have a door the leds might bother you cause they're really bright. However I saw somewhere on the net an easy mod to dim the leds. I've got an Antec Sonta w/ door so the leds dont bother me cause I cant see them.

Where in speedfan can I control mobo fan speeds? not CPU, PWMIC, or chipset? Those are the only fans I can control. Im looking for other speeds.

Everyone recommended speedfan when I asked the same question years ago (we all did) but I've never gotten it to work. Think it works wonders if you get the latest version and your mobo happens to be one of three it supports well. Otherwise you're screwed... though I think it still has a neat OC'ing utility built in.

The Sunbeam fan adjuster is sweet. It's bone cold "works with any damn mobo" hardware. There's nothing warm or fuzzy about it. You turn the knob your fan goes faster or slower. Mounts in a drive bay. Takes a little wiring skill but not much.
