Just wondering, has anyone done this yet? Or has anyone tried to OC one? Thanks,

I don't think there is anything to softmod it to. It isn't nerfed in the BIOS as far as I know.
 
I think he was referring more to flashing the BIOS to something faster like an X800XT or something but that wont be possible because the core speeds on the x800xl's are limited and the BBA version only uses 2.0ns RAM with no external power connector.

I don't understand flashing the bios just to get faster clocks. I run ATI Tool on machine, and using that you can clock the machine to whatever you want. I especially like the 2D/3D profiles. I run 150/250 clocks at 2D and 500/500 3D on my XT. I wish there was something similar for my prescott.
 
sure you can softmod it and turn on all 32 pipes. ;)

I just softmodded my GF4mx420 in to a 6800Ultra SLI.

Man that softmodding and overclocking shit is like magic! :rolleyes:

When you flash the BIOS it increases the voltage to the voltage used by the card you flashed to as well.
 
Alright, Alright, you found me out. I'm a newb for OC stuff, I forgot softmodding was for more pipes.

I just want a faster card, what is your recommendations for OCing this card? (Tools, heatsinks, etc.)

Well, maybe on nvidia, but on ATI, you have to increase voltage manually, with a volt mod. If you know of another way, link it here so I can try it on my card. (Too chicken to try a hard mod)

i believe you mean a [H]ard mod. ;)
 
it is being done here, people have used the X800XT and x850xt bios and it seems to work alright on the cards with 1.6ns ram and the external power (powercolor). heres the link Bios Flash
