so i got my card in, its a sapphire atlantis 9800pro 256bit, 256mb.

i just popped off the heatsink and its a r350 core, does that mean that i cannot softmod to a 9800xt? also my card has 16 memory chips whereas most other cards i see only have 8 chips.

i have the "old" 9800 pro from the looks of it. but it doesnt say if mine is modable or not.

I just flashed my Pro to XT. The XT bios only improved my 3dmark by about 150 points, compared to the Pro bios running at 412/365. I don't think there is a difference hardly. Just some shader optimizations ?

i guess its not all that important to me. the way i look at it the extra 256mb of vram will make up for a little of the difference i would have gained by getting a moddable 128mb card.

i was scoring a ~3200 in 3dmarks03 with my old geforce fx 5600ultra, now im getting over 6000 :D so im very pleased with my first ati card.
