Soft mod 9800se???

Basically the only way to get one that will softmod to a 9800 Pro is to find one that is:

1. Made by Power-Color
2. On a 9700 RED PCB
3. Has "L" shaped memory
4. Has DVI, S-Video and VGA outputs.
5. Has stock speeds of 380 core, 680 ram.

If it is a 9800SE and does not fit all 4 items, is more than likely 100% not softmod to 9800 Pro specs.

I believe if you find an All In Wonder 9800se those are 256bit and are easily softmoddable. Unfortunately I've yet to find anyplace in the US that sells them.

Softmodding is done through a software update hence the name. I think it might just be a bios flash of the card but I'm not sure. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

ocfaq.com/softmod

It's a hacked driver.

ocfaq.com/softmod for the stock ATI drivers patched with the softmod, or Omega drivers for the tweaked drivers with the softmod patch.

Even if your card doesn't have the L shaped memory, run the driver anyways and you will at least open up the 8 pixel pipelines.

all 9800se cards can be soft modded. the ones on 9700/ 9500np layouts softmod to 9800. the ones on 9500p layouts softmod to 9500pro (9800 with 128bit mem). the last kind looks like a 9500pro but has crappy 4ns ram but will also softmod to a 9500p (9800 with 128bit mem).
