Socket backplate under Mobo

I just got my Asus A8V that I am going to use in my WC setup. It has a steel backplate under the socket to hold the plastic retention dodad in place. I have noticed in alot of reviews this is removed prior to putting the bolts for the waterblock thru the motherboard.

I don't understand. Wouldn't it be better to have this in place for added stability?

I didnt start mounting the block yet so maybe I am missing something. My block will use 2 bolt assemblies to mount my A64 3500+ S939. It has 2 screw holes holding the plate and plastic thingy together.

Let me know your experiences because I have none.

thanks

well i have a cuplex evo 1.1 which does use the plastic bracket. so i had no need to take mine off. it uses the 3 tabs on each side.

I assume though that with a block like the tdx they want you to remove the bracket so that the screw goes in from the back and you tighten it in the front.
