As the title suggests I am looking for a good, high performance Heatsink and Fan for my current XP 3000+ system. I have a K7N2 Delta ILSR mobo. Bear in mind this Mobo doesn't have holes around the CPU which rules out a few coolers.SomeHeatsinks I have been looking at are:

Thermaltake Volcano 12 Extreme

Thermalright SLK-900A (can have any fan on, please suggest good ones - please mention wether they are quiet or if they are high-performance like a Vantec Tornado 92mm fan. Stats like CFM and noise level would be very useful indeed. It is likely that I am going to get this cooler, and so any advice on fans would be a great help.)

Zalman 7000A

I am looking for a high-performance heatsink at an affordable price (max £50) with which I can do some overclocking (i want to be able to go up as far as possible so up to 1.85V). Currently I have one of the Zalman ones ( I think it is a CNPS6000-CU) which is insufficient (load temps around 62 C). Help would be much appreciated, as i've looked all over and still not found one which I want. Noise isn't a HUGE issue, but things like the Volcano 12 are really really loud (it's mainly the pitch of the fan that is annoying, the lower the pitch the better). Thanks in advance.

The Zalman 7000A will not fit your mobo.

Consider the Swiftech MCX462-V, it's an excellent heatsink if you're looking at low-noise solutions. It will fit your board.

I have nearly the same MB you have (K7N2Delta-L) and I'm looking into a SLK900A + Vantec Tornado 92x38mm fan combo. Most likely though I'll get a fanbus to try to alleviate some of the unbearable noise that thing is likely to put out.

If anything it will most likely help to alleviate the temps i've been having such as a 55C load last night when the ambient was around a mere 20C. The sk-6 + delta 7k combo just doesn't work as well as it used to. Really need something that can handle the heat. (especially when the temps go back up to around 30-35C)

Hmmm, OK, thanks for the heads up on the Zalman, i've not really looked into that one tbh so I didn't really check all that much. All of the reviews i've seen have said that the Swiftech MCX462 wasn't as good as the SLK-900A. I think the Volcano 12 will be too noisey, so I can kinda rule that one out.

One HSF I have only just spotted is the "Aerocool High Tower HT-101" or its sibling the "Aerocool Deep Impact 102 (dp-102)". Anyone know if these are good or if they can outperform the SLK-900A? At only 20-30db they seem to offer good performance and it looks like it should fit my motherboard. Any input on these, too, would be greatly appreciated.

Ah Risant, glad to see someone has a similar setup to me :) Thing is the Tornado seems a little on the loud side to be honest.

MCX642 or MCX462-V? Quite a difference there. :)

yes
the older mcx462 couldnt compare to the mcx462-v in performance and noise levels...
i had the mcx462v for a while...it worked really nice..but im using mcx462+ now..
very nice with 92mm tornado

i am king air cooling lol and i take full responsibility for djpharoah delve into high end air cooling concepts.
i of course have most components to get myself overclocking with the exception of ram.
tell em' dj!!

I currently run the SLK 800 with a Enermax 80mm variable fan (40 CFM @ 38 db) I really like this combo, its a great solution in terms of performance vs noise. I can hardly hear it against the rest of my case fans. I am running it on a XP 2400 @ 2.2 gig @ 1.7v and i idle @ 30-35 and load maxes @ around low 40s.

Alright, thanks for the responses. It seems as though most of the decent coolers are all within a few degrees of each other, so basically i'll look thorough all of your suggestions and find a quiet fan. Thanks guys.
