Hello, today my Gigabyte p35-ds3l died...

Could I please have a recommendation for a mobo ??

My system has the following:
e8400
2gb Muskin ddr2 800mhz 4 4 4 12
evga 9800gtx+
XFI xtreme music
Ultima 90 heatsink
NZXT Tempest case

I dont want to spend more than $150 on the mobo...

Any recommendations please ???

I would like to OC my cpu to at least some 3.6, 4 gigz

Thank you!!!!!

Even though I don't own one, based on what I've read on [H] and on several other sites I will 2nd the above poster on the P5Q.

Pro... don't forget the "pro"... Avoid the vanilla (P5Q)... get the P5Q Pro.

I would definitely recommend the P5Q Pro, been using it myself and its got great features and is a dream for overclocking. $120 on Newegg can't be beat, use coupon in post #2.

btw, if you guys are ordering from newegg you might want to do the cashback deal from live.com. I didn't find out about it until after I ordered but it's a few bucks more.

Just follow the directions for cashback that's on the top right of the page.

Does the Asus P5Q Pro require an 8 pin Cpu power connector? I'm looking for a good midrange board for a new machine for my Mom.

It does not require it, I'm running my system right now with 4pin only. I am even doing some heavy overclocking and running a high voltage with this CPU and have not had any power issues at all, vdroop has always been less the 0.008.

Just what I wanted to hear :), that board should be more than enough for my mom for years to come, now just to decide on a video card without going overboard haha!

Why does your mom need such a nice board? In my opinion this is certainly above midrange. I would consider midrange to be a board with integrated graphics and a price tag of $75-$100.

I don't know, just my tendencies to spend a little bit extra if it buys something a lot nicer, and it will probably be at least 5 years or more before I get her to upgrade again, so I want her to get something nice. I was looking at some lower priced boards, like some p35 gigabyte ones, I guess I'm having trouble picking out parts for a non-gaming pc, hehe.
