I put a new E8600 into an old socket 775 computer. When I pushed down on the 4 anchor pins they all snapped in snugly. When I turned the pins, 3 twisted into place and one just kept twisting 360 in both directions. The four pins are all snug, and the PC is running cool and quiet (no OC). I am wondering if I can leave it as is or if I should get new anchor unit. I once burned up a Celeron when a cooler came loose but I wasn't monitoring it too closely and I was always banging it around the room.

Thanks - I was thinking I'm probably ok since all 4 snapped in. If the CPU was a new "bridge" of some flavor I would replace unit but for a old E8600 I hate to mess around more. It was an old Scythe Ninja that I was messing with and they are a real knuckle scrapper to tangle with.
