socket 603 cooling

got 2 603 xeons coming in... need heatsinks for em.... anyone ever rig a 939 to fit em? or do i really need to track down some 603 specific coolers? if so anyone got some suggestions on models and where to get em? (canadian prefered)
 
i depends will have to look around you can find HSF combos that has interchangeable clips to do that...

i am not that familiar with the xeon but maybe some 604 sockets can do..
 
of course i buy a PC-DL mobo, grr to bad they weren't 90 degree's off then venting front to back.. that'd be perfect... damn....
 
The cheapest solution is the stock intel wind tunnels that can be found on ebay for ~30 a set shipped, but they can be kind of loud and they work really well.

next would be a set of thermalright SI-9XV's they are heatpipe coolers and cost $33 each. I got mine from jab tech. Here

they cool well but i has some problems with getting an AGP card to fit with them on my PC-DL, but i eventueally got it to work. they keep my 1.6GHz LV Xeon's @ 3.2GHZ at about ~48C at load.

there is also the thermalright heatpipe tower HSF but they are hard to get and coust quite a bit.

cheap and loud(at load) = IWT's
mid priced and quiet = SI-9XV
expensive and quiet = thermalright tower.
 
vantec makes these for super cheap. link

I have a pair but have never used them since I couldnt find a reasonable mobo for my 2 socket 603 xeons. I did bolt one to a 3.06 northwood ht proc ( I think thats right, been a while) and it was quiet. Dont remember it keeping the processor super cool however.
 
That looks like a nice all copper cooler...I'd go with that if they can get it for cheap...
