soccer mom needing advice on solitaire rig

hi i'm needing to build a rig that will run solitaire at 100+ fps. should i go with the x2 4800 sli 7800gtx setup or the pentium M crossfire R580 setup?

Make sure you get 4 gigs of ram for the X2 Set up, that damn Solitaire is a Memory Whore!

Go with dual opterons. You'll need em'. Oh, and don't forget the 400+ gigs of HDD space you'll need. The install alone is 40 gigs... :rolleyes:
 
Your computer just needs a fast CRT monitor, that can do 100Htz :p
 
I play solitaire on the machine in my sig at 1680x1050... I get some minor slowdowns when transfering a stack of 10 or more cards... Usually drops into the 30s. But I get a massive FPS drop near the end of each level.


If you can live with these slowdowns then a 7800GT should be fine. If don't want the slowdowns then you definitely need 7800GTX SLI.

OP you're gonna need a quad Opteron dual core setup with as much memory as the board will hold. Solitaire is so cpu dependant. I know of no other program that hammers resources like it.
 
get an apple 30in display
x-2 4800 and o/c
6.1 surround sys,
2 7800gtx in sli
4gb ram
water cooling
logitech mx1000

that should barely push u over 100fps (j/k lol)

first of all, what "soccer mom" uses the term rig for a computer?

x2 4800 sli 7800GTX as the crossfire r580 doesn't exist yet clown.

Wait for the R500 series cards, because Solitaire will run a lot better because it supports HDR .246, SM 4.0 and DirectX 10.
 
Dont have any advice... wait for windows vista and the nvidia G80 cards.
 
just as a point of reference, i play solitaire and spider solitaire at 1280x1024 with the rig in my signature. here are my screen shots with my computer running at 2.6ghz and the video card slightly overclocked. i think my kingston value ram is holding me back

I have also found that if you run 4x AA with the frog crards it runs smoother than 2x AA with the beach scene. i don't think the sm-3 shaders are optimized for nvidia based cards yet.
