I know I am getting the 60gb version, but I want to know who else is and what package.

PS3 has all the games I wanna play so far and they are all exclusives. Plus my PSX PS2 catalogue. No brainer really.

The price really isn't justified, plus, I am NOT cool with more sony formats trying to become mainstream.... have you guys even seen the blue ray disks? they look like minidisks

i'm waiting, nothing on the PS3 seems to be something i'm poopin my pants to get,

such as the FF series, i'll wait and see if its worth it, i didn't like 10, and i definetly didn't like 9, so if 12 or 13 or what ever one is going to be the exlusive on it doesn't really shock me, i won't be getting it

metal gear solid, same thing, i honestly don't think its going to change from its format at all, and just be another rehash from the second one

meh, i can wait on this one

60 GB version, but like with the PSX and PS2, I'm not going to be getting mine for a while... maybe a year or so after the launch.

I still have too many games to catch up on in this gen to justify getting any next-gen console just yet. ;)

Where's the "I'll get one when I don't need to sell a kidney to afford it" option?

If I can get one opening night I'm going to get the 60gb version just to sell on ebay. Does that count?

20Gb version. Don't really give a toss about Blu-ray movies or any of the extra features like wireless networking and memory stick readers.

The only thing with this is, since it doesn't have memory card ports, how will you save games files/profiles/etc if you want to play them on someone elses machine? Perhaps there will be a means to e-mail them via the online system, but who knows.

I am going for a 60gb version.

Most phones are bluetooth now so maybe be able to save to external usb device or send to a bluetooth device etc, not sure if there is a memory stick slot on the ps3

If the PS2 is anything to go by then I probably won't be doing any "offline" multi-playing, I think Nintendo rules that area of gaming :D

Hmm, OK, I just read another interview and Kutaragi says even the cheaper one you will be able to plug in a USB memory card reader and have it work, so, I guess it isn't a huge issue.

Still, for only $100 you get triple the hard drive space, the reader built in, WiFi, and HDMI, seems worth it to me.

I am hoping for some cool WiFi integration features with the PSP, if they come up with some good ones I might just have to pick one of those up too.

both versions support usb drives (flash, psp, other usb storage) and usb hard drives

Second time this poll was done and the results almost mirror the first time (as far as only 25% of Hardocp forum members are feeling the PS3). The Undecided PS3 buyers has gone WAY down though from ~35% to ~17% and the not getting a PS3 group has jumped way up to ~60% at the moment. Interesting.

I'm getting 3 or 4 of the 60GB. I'm definitely keeping one, but the rest will hopefully offset the cost of all units and maybe give me a little bit of money for games.

I will be getting the 60GB version IF:

They Remake Final Fantasy VII and/Or Final Fantasy Tactics for it.... AND it has to be Native to the PS3.... otherwise I will just buy it for my 360.

I will pass. The price is what killed it for me. I dont like having Blue Ray forced upon me. If Blue Ray affected gameplay then I would be more inclined but it does not.

Really? I did a ton of multiplayer gaming offline on the PS2. Madden, NFL Street, Gran Turismo, 007 Nightfire (way overlooked game, almost as good as Goldeneye in gameplay, plus much better graphics), Burnout, DOA2, Soul Caliber 2, FIFA, X2, there were tons of PS2 games that had at least great two player support, and if you had unlocked all the hidden stuff in a game a friend hadn't, it was handy to be able to put your save game file on a memory card and bring it over.

skittlze -

I agree blu-ray probably won't effect it too much the first year or so, but after a year or two I expect to see games that are realesed for the 360 or Wii on multiple discs to come nicely on one BR disc for PS3. Not that switching out discs is a huge pain, but it is nice to hot have to.

The PS2 had a couple decent multiplayer games... (Nightfire wasn't one of them, that game sucked!). But the Gamecube was the definite multiplayer "party" or "couch" system. Between the Donky Konga titles, Mario Sports, Mario Kart and Mario Party titles for casual/non-gamers, and TimeSplitters 3 (the true current-gen "Goldeneye") and Smash Bros. for the gamer bunch, the XBox and PS2s barely ever got used in a get-together environment. Finally the PS3 has default support for more than 2 controllers, though, so perhaps the number of party titles like the above will surface on the PS3.

Not for my own personal use. I won't be buying one to play. I may be a bastard and ebay a couple, but I simply refuse to pay that much for an entertainment device. I'm not interested in Blu Ray (or HDDVD) and I don't have any TV's with HDMI.

There will be plenty of games for the 360, The Wii, the DS, and the PC for me to spend my time on this year. MGS4, and FF13 will still be around (and cheaper) whenever the PS3 gets to be around $300-400 dollars. I made my "paid out the nose" early adopter decision with the 360, and I'm perfectly happy with it so far.

The 360 is the only system I've ever bought at launch for full price (and almost the last), the Wii will be cheap enough that I won't have to sweat that purchase decision, and the Wii has Monkey Ball.

The wife likes Monkey Ball. If they had Kingdom Hearts 3 at launch for PS3, I could probably get her to buy the damn thing for me :)

As a personal decision, I won't pay $600 bucks for a gaming system. I know the system will be great, includes a lot of hot tech, and I know I'll like lots of the games for it. I've got other shit to buy in life, I barely have the time to play my 360 or anything else, and Sony can flat out Kiss My Ass charging 600 bucks for this Blu Ray birthing device.

All of you willing to pay that and not wait, more power to ya.

I doubt we will see a FFVII remake for a while, square is in the process of making two FF games exclusive for ps3(FFXIII and FFXIII-versus), we probably wont get both of them out till 2007-2008. So unless Square-Enix has another team on the side to spare, I doubt we would even hear mention of a FFVII remake till late 2007.

Im still debating whether the 20 or 60 gb version will give me a better profit margin on eBay. I think I am leaning towards the 20gb version simply because of the extreme cost of the PS3 I see demand being a bit lower which means less extreme price gouging on ebay. I financed my 360 by buying and selling a second one on eBay and I plan on financing my DX10 video card upgrade with the PS3.

If worse comes to worst I can return the PS3 for no gain.

Xbox has nothing that interests me... too similar to a computer... which I already have a nice one...

I'll probably get a wii and a ps3 but I won't get the ps3 until the first price drop... and wii will depend on when good games come out...

Having played ALL the games shown at E3 for PS3, I can say unequivocally that PS3 is NOT worth it. The graphics are Xbox 360 calibur or *below* (many games looked like FIRST gen xbox 360 games) and I don't feel like subsidizing Sony's dream of getting a couple dollars out of my pocket every singly time I buy a movie or game on a Bluray disk.

$600 is *absurd*. No PS3DO for me.

Jason

I'm getting the 60GB one. I have a big, sexy HDTV that's just dying for some Blu-ray movies. :)

There are two conditions that must be met for me to pick up a PS3.

1.) It must over something different or above and beyond what I am already getting from the xbox 360.

2.) It has to drop in price to around 400 or maybe 450 for the "premium" version.

2 x 60gb version please

You may want to hold off on that order... for £425 (that's about 800 US) even the rich will have qualms about buying the PS3 in the UK.

Im not.. The xbox 360 is good enough for me. No way am i spending that much on a console with dubious real time benefits.

These forums have a heavy Xbox 360 bias (I'm not even going to try and figure out why. Perhaps since the Xbox 360 is more or less a cheap pc and cheap PC= attainable to most people who are interested in hardware? Dunno really.) so the results are highly off compared to the real world. I would expect PS3 to sell atleast double the Xbox360 but more realistically about 3-6 times as much.

I'm not sure if I will buy one though. I think my console days might be over with. If I were to buy a console I would probably get the revo first (the interactivity is highly fun and would be good excercise) and maybe a PS3. If anything PS3 would be nice for it's blu-ray drive.

QFT. It's sad that the forced addition of BluRay has made this beast cost so much, and it's clear from the politics involved why the drive is being forced in there.

Buying a PS3 = inadvertently helping Sony to win the format war (and maybe not rightly so). Yuck.
