I think you'll see the most benefit from going with a 3800 or 4000 kit at the lowest cas you can find. 14, 15 would be your best bet imo. Seems to be a 5+ % benefit from moving to faster ram.
I have 3600 cas 16 that I run at 3733 cas 16.

Not really easy to find those kits. Supply is not really that great. I have 3200 cl 14 G-skill that I have been able to do 3733 at 1.45v with CL 15. I will probably try to get that to 3800 to see how it works. Currently I have it at 1:1 at 3600. But seems like there still is issue with ryzen 5000 running at 1900-2000mhz, do so I am not sure if i would recommend 3800-4000 just yet. AMD is still optimizing it but it still wont be guranteed.
you'd be fine with what you have. Enjoy!

You're probably as close as you can get to a sweet spot for what it's worth. People moving from 3200 cl16 to something tight at 3800 or 4000 would see a bit of an improvement. But is it worth a $175-$225 kit? Probably not.

Quick update re: B&H.
Still backordered, the purchase hold on my card fell off today though.

Far Cry 6 was added as part of the Ryzen promo after I checked out with the 5950X.
Jumped in Live Chat for 1m and they added the promo as a separate line item with no hassle.
Those of you also holding your preorders there should do the same.

Yeah, that makes sense. I went all in on the board because I was aiming for a 5900x and I thought it would be a really good pairing. With the overpricing of the 5800x (my opinion) my frugal self (lol) is telling my other self that I could have bought an under $300 dollar board to match with the CPU. Everything would be peachy if I was able to get the 5900x but can't really complain right now. I have a working Wintel PC and this is more of an enthusiast upgrade to try the new goodies that are out.

BTW just saw this on the news today. If you are interested in cooling with LN2 you can get a 5950x to 6Ghz on that motherboard. LOL.

I'm gonna stick with an AIO 240mm water cooler though. Hehe.

Haha! Yeah, AIO to start and a full custom loop once the GPU situation gets sorted out and blocks become available.

Got my 5600x on Friday, built my system Saturday. Unfortunately my motherboard was bad so I had to send it back this morning. My new one will be here Wednesday.

People are actually buying these and bidding them around 1700-2000 on eBay. That is just enabling scalpers. I don’t think these CPUs will be unavailable for long. CPUs tend to normalize fairly well in supply for AMD. Given these are just small 8 core dies. So it better to just wait a month or two. I have a 3900x so not really in a hurry.

But 5950x will just extend my platform pretty well for next 2-3 years minimum with the x570. Don’t really wanna change the board anytime soon. May be zen 5 lol.

Early into release when there were still stores yet to put their stock up, the Newegg stock and B&H Pre-order confirmed deliveries were being sold for around $1150 Buyout by the botters/scalpers. Which honestly isn't that unreasonable. They didn't have to do that if they really wanted to be dicks. That's basically a $200 profit for them, and the last $150 goes to Ebay. Once they sold out everywhere, that's when the cruel jab of unregulated capitalism struck hard and prices started skyrocketing to $1400+ and beyond. The top sellers stopped using Buyout and went strictly Bidding, and the only Buyouts left were in the $2000-3000 range -- probably single CPU buyers who waited on line IRL for one big payday. Watching this all unfold was an interesting lesson in real-time economics Lol. I usually don't use Ebay for anything except my recent Sonos Arc, but I regret not jumping on one of those $1150 ones. If it happens again with the 6900XT, I'm just going to pay the finder's fee and say hell with it. I'm tired of these waiting games every damn time something I want gets released.

Decided to end the AM4 legacy by putting the best chip in it. Will last me until a good chunk into the AM5 lifespan as I won’t upgrade until initial DDR5 prices drop anyway.

You just wanted to be matching with your rigs, 6950x with a 5950x lol

Just curious what do you do with your computer mostly? Not judging, I went overkill with my new setup (havent updated sig), and I mostly game.

I'm trying like crazy to get a 5950x but still coming up empty. I'm hoping I'll get lucky one of these days / random F5 presses.

I'm hoing to put together my last new rig for awhile - before I make a big move at the end of '21 so keeping my fingers and toes crossed. If anyone changes their mind or gets hands on a spare, PM me, I'll pay a finders fee :-D

I mostly game but I also help edit videos for a small YouTube channel (not mine). Nothing crazy, I just have expendable income to be completely honest.

So I just got off the phone with B&H and they said they will be receiving stock in the 4th week of Nov and then the 4th week in Dec and could not say how many they would be getting nor could they tell me where I was in line. I ordered at 5am so hopefully in in that first order.

What time did you put your pre-order in?
10/5 at around 1:45 A.M.
What discord server? I ordered around the same time and what to find out when they placed. B&H won’t tell me anything about where I’m in the queue
Honestly they didn't say :( I was in the Nvidia Snatcher discord and someone just posted the image saying it was "from another Discord server"
Same I would like to know what server that was
See above

I posted on the other thread but bad news bear email are going around. Depending on how far down you are, you will likely not get your CPU this year. I ordered around 6AM (after striking out elsewhere) and got a notice that I likely won't get my order until march 2021 per BH email. Yes, I know that the pre order was available the night before. This is just a gauge on how far you are if you ordered the next day, not knowing it was already open for pre order. Good luck ya'lls.

Someone posted this on another Discord, just FYI for B&H pre-orders.
Received this from B&H:

Dear ###########

Re: Your order for Product: ############

Thank you for your AMD Ryzen Processor order.

We have received a tremendous number of customer orders that are far in excess of the inventory that AMD has allocated to us. Unfortunately, as a result, it is unlikely that we will be able to fulfill your order until after March 2021.

We are working closely with AMD trying to secure additional product. We will send you an update in early December.

If you have any questions, please email me along with your order number at #############. In the event you would like to cancel your order, please use this link ###############

We appreciate your business and apologize for these delays.

Thank you,

I received the 12/21 date and I ordered almost 0100 Eastern. For now, my intention is to hold onto the preorder despite having a unit coming from Amazon. This is not to scalp but to possibly pay it forward to a worthy [H] member.

I also got an email update stating 12/21 for a 5950x order placed 1:11am CST. I plan on keeping it and using a 3400 in the meantime to setup my system. Who knows when I will get a 6950XT to go with it.

Also got the email, estimate for 12/21 on the 5950x. Order placed in at 12:55am EST. Will follow and keep updated whenever there is more info on the order.

Feel for you all who got the March date. Hope you all are able to find elsewhere or maybe some orders clear up before then.

I ordered a 5900X a few hours before midnight from B&H and I received the email below. FWIW, I plan to wait until delivery in December since I don't really need this build right away.

RE: B&H order number XXXXXXXXXX

Dear XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX,

Re: Your order for Product # 5900XXXXXXX

Thank you for your AMD Ryzen Processor order.

We have received a tremendous number of customer orders that are more than the inventory that AMD has allocated to us. As a result, we are unable to ship your order as quickly as B&H typically delivers customer orders.

We expect to be able to ship your order by December 21st. This timing is subject to AMD’s current delivery schedule and is subject to change. We are working closely with AMD trying to secure additional product to hopefully accelerate the schedule.

We will send you an update in early December to hopefully confirm the timing. If you have any questions, please email me along with your order number at XXXXXXXX@bhphoto.com.

Thank you very much for your business,

Rose B.

I got the by March email from b&h...

So I went to my local computer part store here in Yamagata Japan, I didn't want to pay Japanese prices, but I might be forced to. Here in Japan, the 5900x is ¥65,000, which is about 650usd. Then there is a 10% sales tax, so it ends up being over 700usd. By ordering it through b&h I was only at 620 with shipping and import tax.

Well anyway, the local store told me that all of their supply in Japan was sold out and their suppliers were out too. So they can only wait until their suppliers get a shipment from amd. So they have no idea when that will be. He said maybe come back in two weeks.

I got a 5600x from Mcenter 2 hours after open on launch day. They had 32 in stock.

5600x is better at gaming than basically every CPU out right now so saith the reviews as well.

Its hilarious when I heard someone say that they were pissed because they sold out of 5950x and their games were gonna run poorly on 6 little cores. The avg pc gamer is a total dolt. Guess that was why there was 32 of tge fastest gaming cpus on the planet sitting neglected hours after launch.

Dammit. Wish I waited. Saw it on B&H at midnight and jumped on it.

I took the plunge and did preorder via B&H photo. I was scanning Amazon and Newegg at 12AM and did not see any listed on the website yet. I guess I'll go for the "sure" thing. I'll let you guys know if/when it ships.

So is anybody else buying a Ryzen 5000 today, if so which one did you go for -- 5950x, 5900x, or 5600x??
