Newegg only lists the 6800, the 6800GT and the 6800Ultra... is the NU series just any non GT or Ultra? What does the NU stand for? Can all NU's from all manufacters unlock the pipelines?

NU stands for Non Ultra, these are the same as a vanilla 6800, or just plain 6800. The nu is just to specify your not talking about a GT or Ultra.
Unlocking the pipes seems to be a 50-50 shot, I think newer cards look like they have a better chance. I am going to get a 6800nu so I hope mine can unlock the pipes.

The 6800nu is just the plain jane 6800. You can find it almost everywhere, newegg, bb, compusa, fry's, etc...

cool, thanks for the quick info guys... sounds like that eVga special edition NU with 256MB DDR3 at newegg is a hell of a deal for $325 if you can unlock the pipes
