for the 25, 26 and 2700k's? they're priced nearly the same (as IB) dammit.

i was hoping for a small drop at leaaast.

There is never a massive drop in prices. The CPU market doesn't obey laws of traditional retail because of the way you're generally segmented into what your mobo can accept. There are some good sales at microcenter in store, but really for online, don't expect much.
Newegg has $15 off the 2500k right now, if you're interested.

They're never going to fall, unless the retailer decides to do a clearance. It's the way Intel does things.

This and I got my 3570k for $179.99 after MIR, so...

The 2nd generation will just be discontinued since Ivy Bridge and north bridge are interchangable. At least you got more out of it then us socket 1366er's did.

actually i still am a socket 1366er lol. i got a new mobo expecting a decrease in price of SB and i was going to jump on it. too bad i missed out on that 2600k for 199 in store only a couple weeks ago. aarrrrggh!

i moved away from a bunch of micro centers and frys. sigh.

anyways, newegg also has the 3570k right now for 249 minus 20 gift card for anyone who's interested. i might just have a family member buy me one from micro center and mail it to me. :(

I saw a SB 2500K for 239$ in special but I also saw a IB 3570K for 238,99$ so it's a easy choice for me. I agree with others there is never a price drop on former generation when the next gen get released.

Sandy may get price cut - but it's not going anywhere - at least not this year.

And it won't be the first time that two quad-core CPU generations sharing the same socket co-existed; remember, Kentsfield (dual-dual Conroe) and Yorkfield (dual-dual Wolfdale) co-existed for nearly their entire lifetime - and both were not only LGA775, but had multiple *chipsets* in common.

Par for the course sucks :(

I was looked to snap up a cheap 2500K and board, but it looks like I might have to drop the "cheap" part :(

yep, i did that just last night. i threw away my 5ghz SB a la cheap dreams for now.

i saw that tigerdirect has the 3570k for 209.99 free ship after rebate (ends 5/5)

since i dont get charged tax from TD, it's actually as good of a deal as the microcenter 189.99 in store pick up (roughly 205 after tax)

rebate is sucky but alas, such is life. i cannot wait much longer.
