I'm making this thread about Nintendo's post E3 announcements because during an interview, Shigeru Miyamoto was quoted as saying
"We're also working on a new Wii U Zelda game. Work on that is progressing fairly concretely. In fact, we were thinking about showing it here at E3 but decided to wait just a little bit longer before sharing it with everyone."
It sounds like they're waiting for another opportunity (probably in another Nintendo Direct in a month or so) to show off their new Zelda game, and possibily other new games.
My question to the people here is, would showing off a brand new Zelda yesterday alone would have made a huge difference for Nintendo's E3 showing? Personally, I knew Nintendo has been working on a new Wii U Zelda game, so it wouldn't have been a "surprise". I wanted more genres to be represented, like FPS games, action/adventure games, RPGs.... and different art styles. Many of the games they displayed looked good, but I come to expect those types of games on Nintendo consoles. That's not a surprise. I want more games like the "X" game from Monolith. That trailer alone made me more excited than any of the trailers for the PS4 or Xbox One.
Of course, by the 2014 holidays I fully expect to have either a powerful gaming PC or a PS4 or Xbox One, so I don't feel like I'm stuck or anything. I just want to see a big push being made.
