So my computer blew up

So the day before yesterday everything was fine, until suddenly the computer locked up and wouldn't resume to its normal state. I shutt it down, and rebooted it. It got up to the "Windows XP" screen and it stopped and wouldn't respond. So I rebooted again and decided to check the BIOS for cpu heat. The computer locked up in the BIOS screen. Shut it down, rebooted, again. Now, the computer turns on and everything, but I don't get any display on the LCD monitor. Now, first, I thought it was the video card. But I plugged in my old one and it also didn't work. So I'm assuming it's not the video card that exploded. So I think I might have fried by the cpu (P4) or something.

I guess it is time to revamp the whole system again. I'm set on harddrives and videocard, given that they didn't blow up with the rest of the computer. I just need some input for the possible new system. Unless someone has a solution fixing the computer now.

mobo: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 ULTRA-D
cpu: Between Athlon64 3700+ or Opteron 148
ram: Corsair ValueSelect 1GB (2x512mb)
psu: Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 500W

Those are what I have in mind. Would they be viable? I also have a case already, it has one 120mm fan. I'm a bit worry that the one fan won't hold up against the heat.

So anyways, inputs would be nice. Thanks in advance.

edit: typo...516mb :p

I'd say get better ram, since the value sticks usually don't play well with the DFI board. I don't really want to comment on the processor choice, but part of me says to go for whatever you can afford.

The cooling should be fine unless you're thinking about doing serious overclocking (I can't get above 2.64 GHz, and I'm doing 50 C at load! :( ).

2x516MB eh? Those are some pretty unique sticks you got there! :p

Kidding aside, yeah, DFI doesn't play well with Corsair. DFI is known to play well with OCZ though, and they've got some decent ram in the "value" range.
