So let me get this straight...

So I’m looking at going with the 6800 series card and right now the GT is looking really tempting right now. So the 6800 GT has the same architecture as the 6800 Ultra; it’s just cocked a bit lower correct?

Will there be some bios out to mod the GT to the Ultra? You can certainly overclock the GT to the ultra speeds correct?

The only differences between te GT and the Ultra are clockspeeds, cooling, the 2nd molex, and the BIOS. You could probably flash an Ultra BIOS onto a GT, but what benefits would be attained?

Well then it's really a no brainer which card to go with. Both have simular performance and one card is much cheaper.

Yeah, the GT is the way to go. The only concern i'd have about flashing it is i'd be suprised if it could handle ultra speeds, as it only as one molex, and ultra's dont run well with only one molex in.

The Ultra is supposed to run with 1 molex...

I'd get the GT and OC like hell.

Don't some of the ultra's only come with one molex though?

Well, you could just overclock the GT to as high as possible and hopefully reach 6800 ultra speeds. (or higher)

The added benefit of a bios flash is in a few things....
1 - opening more pipes (like on a x800 pro to x800xt) NOT necessary for 6800GT - but might be of use on the 6800
2 - possibly adding more voltage to core to allow higher clocks (like 5900U to 5950)
3 - possibly relaxing timings a little on the ram to allow higher overall clocks/perf.

The GT is identical to the Ultra, except the GT is 350/1000 and the Ultra is 400/1100, plus the Ultra has dual dvi, dual slot cooling, and dual molex (for overclocking) while the GT has dvi/vga, single slot cooling, and single molex.

You can OC the GT to Ultra or near-Ultra speeds without any special modifications, just using software.

No stores have them in right now do they? I mean like walk up and buy them? I've got the BFG 6800 GT OC on Pre-Order from BB right now. :) I'm excited but to bad I can't get it for this weekend :(

While the reference GT design has DVI/VGA, 3rd parties are free to change this. One company (I forget which) has a dual DVI GT.
