Howdy folks, new to the forum....but I'm wondering just why in the heck I'm getting the scores I'm getting in 3dMark 03/05.

Here's a layout of the system I have:

P4 3.2E (Prescott 1 MB)
MSI PT880 Neo
Kingston Hyper X CAS2 (1 GB Dual Channel Pack)
Maxtor SATA 120 GB (8 MB Buffer)
BFG Technologies GeForce 6800 Ultra OC
SB Audigy 2
Ultra X-Connect 500W Module PSU
Pioneer DVD 120S DVD-Rom Drive.
Nvidia Forceware 66.93 (latest non-beta) drivers.
Thermaltake Spark Series P4 cooler (copper and rated for up to 3.4 or 3.6 Ghz, don't remember which)
Latest Via Hyperion drivers.
Windows XP SP2 (all other updates installed)
On a forced Hardware Abstraction Layer install, due to the video card needing it's own dedicated IRQ (because XP wants to put it on IRQ 16, which we all know is shared)
Some of those matter, some of those don't.

I get great performance in everything I play, everything being Half-Life 2 and Doom 3, and C&C Generals: Zero Hour of course.

But on the 3dMark 03/05 benchmarks it doesn't seem like I'm getting the numbers I should be, nor do I think I'm getting the numbers oher people are.

I guess my question really is, what SHOULD I be getting, and what could I possibly do to improve (not by overclocking either).

Thanks a lot! :D

You know, you could use a Grammer Class..
:p

Yes, but we would really need your scores.

Wait..
Your mad with that?
My AMD64 3200 with MSI 6800 Only gets 3800+ in 3DMark 05

Its, more then likely your CPU bogging you down, but yes, those scores do seem rather low.

It was a joke.

Calm down.

Yes, I know, hence the " :p " I don't think its the CPU really. A 3.2E Intel has to be able to haul ass.

Try updgrading your NVIDIA drivers to 71.24(? I forget the number). Its on Guru3D. Should help you out. My scores jumped 300 points when I updgraded to it.

If your games work fine, then benchmarks are you last concerne. Simple as that.

Yeah I kinda figured that...everything runs perfectly, was just kinda concerned that my system might not be performing up to "standards"...if you want to call it that.

I appreciate the responses.

wow..low scores.....

I get with my system..athlon 64 3200+ clawhammer and my 6800ultra

3dmark03...12955

3dmark05... 5592

ALL stock...drivers 75.90

First I would recommend updating the drivers for your videocard... download 75.90 from www.guru3d.com and see how much u gain...update all the other drivers too (chipset..etc)

AND last but not least..make sure AA and AF are off in the nvidia control panel!!!! I am sure this is the problem..well not a problem but an overlooked detail :) GL

Snap :D
Point taken.

Anywho, damn that Pre-OC'ed Card! 5000 in 3DMarks 05. Man, makes me wish I'd just OC mine...but since I've never done it/never will I kind of feel sad. :(

Get Valence studio's 75.90a's, they are hands down the best 6x00 drivers. Also OC the prescott, the longer pipes are gunna cause it to be way slower until you get above 3.6ish...

I agree that that these drivers are the best so far..but i got one problem...in cs:s..I get sound glitches...I switch back and forth trying to solve this problem by using 81.84 and these a few times.........glitches were gone in the 71.84 and when i install these again..glitches come back ;(

After reinstalling my system without a forced HAL, and some other stuff... i'm now beating that Athlon Clawhammer Score :D Eat it AMD :p
