turns out Core 0 is stable so far up to 2.6Ghz but core 1 fails even at 2.4ghz on my Opteron 165.

I've tried extra voltage and that doesn't affect it in any fashion even up to 1.55v.

So right now I'm running cpu burn v1.01 on core 1

Anyone know the download link for K7 CPU burn?

Any other options?

On a good note so far I've found my ram is stable 227mhz at 2-2-2-5

I have that exact same stepping/week and so far I'm stable at 2.5 at 1.375 volts. Maxing out my shuttle's cooling soon tho, so not sure how much further I can push it.

at 2.4 if I run dual superPI the one on Core1 fails in a split second.

Sorry to say, but if it runs at stock speeds, you are pretty much SOL. This game is a bit of a gamble and sometimes you lose.

Weird. I stepped down to 2.2
so far prime is stable
memtest is stable
single superPI on either core is stable
Dual superPI setting affinity to each core the core 1 instance dropps out immediately.

Not sure whats up.

I've found out it's actually not a bad core as far as I can tell so far.

What it is is a glitch in SuperPI.
See the way I was overclocking is I'd OC a step then use superPI to test stability at that level prior to running any prime or anything.

Then I had seen the thread about running 2 superPI's to test dual core systems.

Turns out you can't do that. Or at least my version of SuperPI cannot run two instances. If you run 2 one will always fail. Even at stock speeds I've tested it on 6 computers now(3 intels' and 3 AMD's) whichever SuperPI gets started second will immediately fail.

So with that in mind this morning I hit 2505Mhz on my Opteron 165. Single SuperPI 32M stable and SP2004 stable for 2.5 hours before I went to bed. I feel I've got more OC left in it but at the moment I'm at the limit of the OEM cooling solution (heatpipe HSF) from AMD. Though wednesday or thursday there will be a Thermaltake Big Typhoon cooler on that CPU(providing it fits) also transfering the opteron from the POS Aero Cool case it's in to a Antec P180. Also got my TCCD to do 227Mhz at 2-2-2-5

ok so I just checked it on a few more machines.
tried it on my P4 3.0HT laptop and on 2 P4 HT machines here at work. Same results whichever instance of superPI gets started second immediately failed with "not in convergent sqrs"

Also as a side note I just discovered how badly my desktop beats the crap outta my lappy. My laptop is a P4 3.0 Northwood. 1M PI 59.11 seconds. my desktop in in the 34-31 second range.
