So is it worth it?

DX10 isn't around the corner. At least you can't assume it is. I'd say DX10 is around the next year and a half, that's hardly a corner lol.

Vista will be the only operating system that uses DX10 to its fullest and guess what... it'll take like a year to 3 years after vista and DX10 comes out for it to get popular enough to have any big name games on it.

Upgrade if you want to or need to.

What he said, plus this: 1800XT will definately be worth the upgrade if the price is right. Just be warned that it is last gen product, so its not gonna perform like an OC'd 1900XTX, and so on. But over a 6800GS, heck yeah

X1800XT is worth it, don't worry about DX10 as it's not available until Feb 2007 for actual use. Anyone that purchases new DX10 hardware before then can only demonstrate FPS changes, no new eyecandy results.

The fact that there are faster video cards out compared to mine doesn't bother me a bit. It's all about how much enjoyment I get from my system.

but just think of the beautiful hookers along the way :D

With all that HDR | SM 3.0 enhanced effects. Improved physics also needed to allow proper gravity bounce interactions.

I would certainly say that DX10 isn't very close to being released now, but a year and a half from now... that puts it into February 2008. I really doubt it's going to take that long to release.

It'll be released with Vista. Guaranteed, considering DX10 is the DX version that will be the only version that trully works with Vista natively. And Vista probably won't be released till then. They say 1 year from now Vista will be released but that's my estimate on Vista release. Windows always can and will be released late because it's always buggy as hell and with enough security loops to kill a donkey. :)

Logical, no?
