• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

So I hear clicking....

sounds like it is
Is everything still connected right.
Disconnect it and try it again or in another computer, if you do get it running copy the drive ASAP, also is S.M.A.R.T. turned on in your bios, it saved my uncle once :)

Yes, SMART is turned on, don't really know what it does though

Will maxtor replace it? its been less than a year, but really close to a year.

Go to their support site...you can enter in the serial number and it will tell you if it's under warranty still or not.

Correct me if I'm wrong, SMART watching the HD and alerts you if it thinks there is a problem.
Two years ago my uncle's computer started to give him a msg when he started up that the hard drive might fail and to copy his data. I looked at the computer and 5% of the Hard Drive was fucked up. I got all his information off and when I was done I checked again and it was up to 8%

Yes smart monitors the health of the hdd and if detects a problem it will alert you to it
