Well there would be if it was outside!!
Whoa, thats some weather we're starting to get in the UK.
I live 1/2 way up a damn steep hill and decided to brave going shopping in case it gets worse.
The car was frozen up so bad, I nearly didnt get into it.
Boy the drive was scary downhill and the locks were frozen again by the time I got to the supermarket.
I got home ok but couldnt get the shopping out of the boot for a while as that froze up too!

So I'm kitted out, enough for a week, safe and snug.
Heres the view from my front door as the snow almost stopped for a moment.
It doesnt look that bad but its damn cold and going to get worse and this is southern (warmer) UK.

Anyone else got any fun photos before this gets locked? :)

Nenu,

Why didn't you post this in the Digital Artwerk thread?

Not sure what this has to do with Displays.

That would be far too clever :)
Thanks for the headsup.

Yeah I didnt think to post in the artwerk forum, I thought it was naughty to post such things unless in Genmay.
Sadly I couldnt join Genmay as the card transaction wouldnt go through.

If this survives, I am sure you are going to get a lot of "That's not snow posts" from my countrymen.

If this survives, I took my cameras on my way into work, to show you situation normal in Canada.

Yeah, it does seem a bit lame but we just arent prepared for this down here and my car is well confused.
It would be great to see some real bad weather shots if you have any.
I might have some better ones later!

^ +1 Living in Canada you get a real understanding of snow and cold. Temps of up to -50 celcius, and up to 444.6 cm (+- 14.5 FEET) of snow in 2007-2008:eek:

Your just being a wimp, -30c today right now without a windchill. Was -45 last week with windchill. I'm at work so no pics of the snow right now.

We need photo evidence !

It will have to be in +6-7 hours when I get home from work. Nothing extreme, just what was on my way to work this morning, we haven't had any real snow since about Wednesday.

Today was a beautiful -4C this morning. I had my hat and gloves off and coat open before I got halfway to work. It is dropping back to -20C later in the week. No fun.

It really isn't that Snowy in Ottawa compared to Newfoundland or some of the areas that get Lake effect snow. A warm snap and rain melted a lot of our snow around holiday time.

I cant claim near your worst temps although a few weeks ago, I used de-icer on my car and it froze.
Thats rated to -15C, pretty chilly for here!
We get some low spot temps where I am though.
London has no snow ploughs and they have had the worst weather in the South.
It was foobared there today.

For sure, please post big snow piccies :)

Ok a couple of quick shots from this mornings walk into work. Just a typical day. Like I said nothing special here, it hasn't snowed in a few days and Sunday and Today were both very warm. So the snow is cleared from the roads and had time to melt down to pavement. So just a typical day.

First shot is walking through the subdivision near me and next is through a green space path on the way to work. On snow days I need to wear gaiters to keep the snow out of my boots but a few days later like this, the trail is fairly packed. That green thing is not a lawn tractor, it is a full size one setup for snow clearing. It dwarfs the minivan next to it.

I realize snow causes more problems in areas not set up to deal with it, but I do find it funny when people post those photos with a dusting of snow. Last year was our big snow year. I should have taken pictures then. That was the most I had seen since I was a kid and it was pretty crazy.

That looks really nice.
Do you use snow tyres?

Yeah I have snow tires on my car, but I walk to work. Much nicer than being in rush hour in slippery conditions.

But my car is very light and even with Blizzak WS 50s it will float on top of the snow and slide very easily.

I'm considering getting some snow tyres, especially after this !

A few years ago it had been snowing for a couple of days and had refrozen so the roads werent pleasant.
The temperatures had risen just above freezing and I needed some shopping so decided to make an attempt.
I went to drive down my hill as it looked fine but round the corner, it became solid packed snow and ice just as the hill becomes very steep.
I slooooowly stopped, leaving my hazards on and proceeded to grit the road.
A few cars stopped and turned back and a couple of people joined in the gritting.

We had nearly finished when a businessman in a large 4x4 stopped behind my car.
He was impatient and sat for a couple of minutes then decided not to wait so set off.
I looked up the hill at him in wonder and watched as he sailed past me sideways, flipped round at the bottom and hit a wall!!
He was fine and was reported checking his damage at the traffic lights.
If only he waited 5 more minutes, I laughed so much!

snow tires are good. look into blizzack tires. my familys always used all seasons though...

Feels like an Arctic Jr here

Well I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Which is the coldest city in the world, so I win . We're nicknamed Winterpeg for a reason. ;)

There's cold and then there's snow, I used to live up near Mt. Baker, Washington. They hold some record snowfall amounts, in 1998-1999 they got 1,140" or 2,896cm of snow. It's just insane.

Okay it was fucking cold outside, my fingers were freezing in minutes, plus it's dark out and with an 80-400mm lens this wasn't easy. I'll get some better ones later. The first is the easement right beside my house, and the second one is from the playground/closed school in that easement. There's an interesting symbol in the 2nd pic, I have no idea where that came from either. And the first pic may seem small, but I was across the street, with an 80mm zoom.

I love the snow. I don't worry till it hits about 4 feet deep, even then I'll try to make it. haha

Something cool about being able to drive through 3 feet of snow like it's nothing. :D

yep. i did a tour at fort drum ny and that's common snow. Walk out second story building to get to your car. Standard issue snow blower when i signed for govt quarters. When power goes out up there...wow.

5 years of my life that sucked but fall weather is beautiful. Mind u too, i was in the field doing winter training with the alaska army nat guard--they come down for the cold weather tng..
