Snow Leopard comes with... malware blocker???

"Hi, I'm Joe, and I'm an asshole... but that doesn't make me wrong... even though that happens sometimes."

Can you feel da lub? :D

Almost makes me wish I still had this:

Actually it was on this huge pink eraser about 9" long, 4" inches tall, and almost 1.5" thick. Was a novelty gift from The Johnson-Smith Company someone nabbed for me once long ago...

Sorry, was just off on a tangent, what were you kids babbling on incessantly about yet once more? :D

I won't give Apple to much hell over this one as they probably packaged Snow Leopard before the Flash update was available.

Technically that's Adobe's fault. But since Mac zealots lump all third-party problems as being "Microsoft's fault" I guess I don't have much of a problem with anyone else doing it.

But this is why Microsoft develops their OWN stuff to ship with it. You rely upon third-party pre-installed crap like that then you open yourself up to stuff like this.

Yep. Bad move on Apple's part, especially considering Adobe's updater only checks for updates every 30 days. The majority of users won't be aware that a new version's addressed the vulnerabilities and that they need to update.

Flash really has no place being bundled with an OS. I would say Flash has no place period, but the majority of browsers do not fully support HTML5 and embedded video yet (the only particularly useful capability of Flash).

True, my issue with it is why do you force it to install? This Flash overwrites whatever Flash is already in place. Wouldn't you put a check in the installation to make sure it didn't overwrite something newer?

Well Apple really doesn't think about things like that...

It'd make more sense to preinstall something like Silverlight (although the EU would drool over the potential fines) because you can get those updates as soon as the OS gets installed... It prompts you for it.

I'd be willing to bet that this will be patched in the first 10.6 update

Did you even read the article?

Adobe flaw - Adobe fix.
http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplatform/2009/09/flash_player_update_and_snow_l.html
The initial release of Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) includes an earlier version of Adobe Flash Player than what is available from Adobe.com. We recommend all users update to the latest, most secure version of Flash Player (10.0.32.18) -- which supports Snow Leopard and is available for download from http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer.
