SN95G5 temps - are mine normal?

Just for normal web browsing? That doesn't seem like a correct temp but it could be. I have heard that on some SN95G5s the temp gauge was setup wrong, but I'm not sure on that totally. Maybe try setting your fan speed higher in the bios. My brother in law has a SN95G5 with a 3800, and a 6800gt card in his rig. I'll ask him what his idle temps are to see how they compare to yours.

39c cpu, and 61c case are his temps, but he has 2 hard drives, ATI HDtvWonder, and a DVD burner in his system. So his temp should be a bit higher.
I'm getting 41C for both CPU and mobo when browsing the web. Sometimes it drops a bit lower when it's 100% idle but those flash animations bring the temp up some. Getting 50C when running games. Your temps are definitely high. What happens if you set the fan to run at Full in BIOS? I know it's loud as heck but does it lower CPU temps significantly? If not, your problem is likely the contact between CPU and heatsink.
they did seem a little high...but now i have another problem. i updated to the latest BIOS (revision "m"). now when i turn the machine on, the fan is on ultra high power all the time, no matter what. i tried reverting to both older BIOS revisions available on shuttle's site. no luck - fan is permanently stuck on high and i am REALLY pissed off. now the nvidia chipset monitor says "CPU temp not being reported" and the sudhian forums don't work for me!

this is a real problem, however the machine ios working perfectly (but EXTREMELY loudly)
thanks for the tip though - i don't know why a BIOS update direct from shuttle would screw this so badly.

looks like you solved the temp problems i did that before i posted here. the board is screwed - it's already on it's way back to ZipZoomFly. Pretty disappointing since i really loved the case design - but i won't be getting another one, judging from the amount of problems with this shuttle.
am sure those temps were accurate as that bfg sure would add to it with no ventilation...sounds as though you shooda read more b4 buying it I hate to say. if your temps are legit....
I am loving my SN95. It had or has a few issues but I don't think it's fair to say there is a big amount of prob's with it

Shuttle has released 3 BIOS revisions since the original and the problem still exists. You probably haven't read about all the problems since you aren't having them...
