Hey Guys,

Just wanted to share my exploits. I had a little difficult time getting a good speed on my memory, since I don't have voltage adjustments...

Anyway, here's the system:

sn41g2
2500+ barton
2x256 PC2100 (Crucial)
WD120 SE
NEC 2500a

I was able to acheive a stable 200 FSB on the CPU and 160 on the memory. That's with the stock cooling system, but I switched the fan out for a 80 mm panaflo.

I was pretty happy with it. I ran Prime95's torture test for 2 hours without a problem. 2.2 ghz. yey me.

grin.

Anyway, just wanted to share. If I had a way to change the voltage on the memory, i think i could have jumped it up quite a bit further.

not bad, but get some PC3200 and make it in sync, cuase nforce2 chipsets have big performance hits when running at different speeds

paul you are totally the ownship of this forum....i mean the sff part, they should like give you modship of sff.....they stickied my thread in the most popular forum!!!!! :D

Oh, I'll get new memory shortly...I'm just waiting for that...[H]ot deal to come along with just the right price.

I was thinking about jacking up my processor for my cube, you think that I can get away with the Barton +3200 with 400 Mhz FSB on this system? Or will the Bios reject it (I think this is the same model I have...maybe the v2...I'll double check when I get home)

Well, I think those chips are backwards compatible, so you can run it as slow/fast as you want.

Also don't forget that the nforce2 chipset also runs a little faster with 11-2-2-2 timings, so that might let you run the memory higher.

I have Kingston HyperX PC2700 RAM, and I have my BIOS set to Sync for the Memory. I tried the FSB at a meager 175, and the machine didn't even POST.

I had to clear the darn CMOS. I was under the impression that I'd at least be able to boot up with an FSB of 175. What did I miss?

Was the CPU not supposed to be able to do 175? Am I supposed to leave the CPU at 166? I don't recall there being two different areas to set the FSB (man, it's been a while since I messed with overclocking). Maybe this is a sign that my SN41G2 and Barton 2500 are starting to get a bit OLD (got them in March or April of 2003).

Bump. Any info on this?

Simply put: How do I go about overclocking my Barton 2500 with the Shuttle SN41G2, even if it's just a little bit? (Thanks).

Go into BIOS and bump up the FSB and multiplier in little increments.

Pat, I know HOW to overclock, I'm asking about this specific setup. With the standard cooling, what can I expect to see?

Hmm... it wasn't the stock setup, but with only the fan replaced I was running at 12x200 1.85V for a while with a 2400+ and Kingston HyperX PC3000. At the time, that was with a Ti4600, but I recently moved to a 9800 Pro, and I am staying at 2133Mhz stock voltage just for temperature reasons... I don't use it enough to overclock on it.

Okay. Well, with my HyperX PC2700, I should be able to squeeze a few more Mhz out of my Barton 2500 (non-mobile). I just need to up the voltage, correct?

Maybe that's why it didn't even POST when I tried to up the FSB a handful the other day. Pesk thing, had to do the whole CMOS reset headache. It's much cooler that the newest Shuttles have this button on the back of the case!

set v to 1.7, fsb to 200 , ram lose and let that beast rip [H]ard! :D my 2500 non m barton is at 2.2 with them settings, but my ram is 3200.

are there any modded bios i don't know about? it really sucks shuttle wasn't nice enough to allow you to adjust multi and voltages.

Shuttle DOES allow you to adjust multi if your CPU allows it. Unfortunately (because of cooling I think, stock this system runs HOT) I was only able to manage like a 100 mhz gain but I Did get my FSB up to like 219 (from 166) and I was pretty pleased with that. I'm not running my RAM at the same speed but sandra gives higher numbers this way at least.

he has the sn41g2 ver.1 , the sn41g2 Ver.2 has the multi,volts options

!@#!@%!@#%!

i have a version 2 mobo, not v 3 :( !

edit: i just got the thing saturday, still tinkering. i should probably update my sig.

I'll mess around and see what I can get it to!

My 2500+ runs fine @ up to about 190 FSB when I run in sync with my pc3200.

When I ran pc2100 and a staggered FSB, my 2500+ would run fine @ about 195. 200 mhz works for a little while and then becomes a little unstable.

This is all with stock cooling, except i switched the fan for a more quiet one.

I got 2 sn41's

both have barton 2500's. the one I have OC'ed to 3200 in sync with ram and works great. the other one I only have 333 ram so I havent treid ocing that one.
