Hi all, I just got an SN27P2 from Newegg. Originally, it had an optical drive, and two SATA drives (not RAID-ed). I connected everything together, and tried to install Windows.
Windows can format the hard drives normally. However, when I try installing it, it copies a couple files to the hard drive, and then fails, with the error "could not copy file foobar.baz". The actual file varies, but the error usually occurs around 4%. Sometimes (very rarely !) hitting "retry" will successfully copy the file. Most of the time, skipping the file "works" and Windows goes on to copy a couple more files, only to fail again.
I've checked and, just in case, replaced my optical drive, and my hard drives; I replaced both parts with drives from my old computer which work 100%. No effect. I've also tested the Windows CD; it is undamaged.
I downloaded Ubuntu Live CD and ran memtest; it found no errors. When I try installing Ubuntu normally, it locks up at "mounting root filesystem".
So, does anyone have any ideas about what might be happening ?
