SN27P2 and “non-compatible” memory?

I’ve seen many posts in other forums stressing the fact that the SN27P2 needs memory listed from shuttles compatible list (http://global.shuttle.com/Support/SupportList.asp?Item=SN27P2&ver=SN27P2%20(FN27V1.x). However I was curious how many of you were using the SN27P2 with memory that wasnt on list and what your experience with this memory? Was the memory a brand not even listed? Was it a module not listed but the brand was?

I’m having issues wanting to stick to this list as last time I did with the SN95G5 I tried two of the recommended brands and they didnt work (sticks were not doa).

I have already purchased my SN27P2 however I still have yet to purchase memory and a gfx card due to budget.

These are some of the modules I had planned on getting, that was until I read about all the problems others were having. Does anyone think memory from the same brand even though different model would be ok (for instance the ADATA DDR2 800)?

The listed corsair (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145589) is a little beyond my budget (as are some of these above but I am hoping for a price drop soon considering the recent huge price increase).
 
I bought one about a month ago, got it two weeks ago and had problems with it. RAM I'm using is G.Skill DDR2-800 5-5-5-15 in 2 x 2048Gb kits (yup 4Gb total, I know WinXP only recognizes 3.5Gb). Had problems with it in that XP (legit copy) installed fine but then went into a reboot cycle on me. Tried reinstalling and it failed when copying files across for the setup.

Anyways that was a Wed night after 4hrs went to bed, Thurs night, same thing. Thought it may've been one of my WD 3200s causing the prob so tried swapping them, having one at a time etc, same prob. After 5hrs went to bed. Had Friday, off, tried an IDE drive I had lying around (both SATA removed), same thing. After a couple of hours removed 2Gb RAM, installed fine and seemed to work. Had random BSODS on me and some games wouldn't install (namely BF2 and BF Vietnam but hey, how unstable are they anyways...). Swapped the RAM around, same result. Upgraded the BIOS, same result.

So after about 12hrs of frustration (was a LAN party at my place an my new SN27P2 was to be the new ubber box) I dropped it back at the computer store for them to check out. Got it back, they had the same thing happen to them. They ran a memory check on it (I didn't think it was a DOA issue, more a compatability issue with the 570 chipset, you know similar thing that happened with nForce4[me thinks] and Corsair RAM?). With all 4 sticks in, it ran very slow. Tried one at a time, all were fine. Put them all back in and it worked fine. Had no issues. BF2 is still playing the pig but I'm now convinced it isn't a hardware issue with that as doing a manual install with it works fine but the automated one doesn't. Also it now only fails when trying to load multiplayer maps...

Interesting, if you didnt have a resolution I would have asked you to check you PSU model #, there is a known problem with one of the older models, also Shuttle has released a new BIOS for it as well.

I just got all my parts but will not be able to put it together until tomorrow, my upcoming specs: (I sprung for the $$$ memory..sigh)

Looks like a pretty good system you've got there :)

I'm hanging out for my X2 5000+ to come in. I've had no problems system wise with my setup since I "got it back from the shop" so to speak.

I was originally looking at the 7950GX2 for my case which Shuttle said would work in it but from all the reviews I'd read the resolution I'm gaming at (1280x1024) you are better off with either the XTX or GTX. If you were going higher then the GX2 comes into it but yeah. I originally wanted the Sapphire X1900XTX Toxic as well but they couldn't get those here anymore so my mate ordered the 1950 instead. Very very happy with it I am :D
