SN26P - Event Log File lost!!! HELP

Hey freaks,

Last month I bought a new dream machine the SN26P equipped with a AMD FX-60, 2 Gigs of Corsair Twins, 300 Gig Maxtor HD, 2x 7900GT's in SLI mode from ASUS, 300 Gig Samsung extern, NEC DVD COMBO, 19'' DVI ACER

A friend of mine set the machine up without problems and sent it to me (Thailand). After two weeks my Windows crashed and I received fatal error messages in Windows (XP Service Pack2), mentioning that the Event Log File data(s) were lost. I followd a good guide how to setup this system in a stable environment. (SFFtech.com)
Unfortunately, I sometimes get blue screens mentioning a fatal error or i only can move the mouse in windows (no response from the explorer). What could be the problem?
I am afraid to re-install and format the whole HD a third time. Power Supply (350Watt)?
Nvidia AMD chipset driver 6.70 (Only the SMBus driver is installed as the guide recommends only to install this driver and to not install the Audio and NAM driver and especially not the IDE driver which causes the Event log file crashs).
I am located in Thailand, might it be a insufficient power supply from the plug? Further, I use a UPS/ UPC as well, but only for the gameing rig and not for the other devices. CPU/GPU temp. is 42/52 in average.

Sometimes the system does not even start-up - a common Shuttle illness??? Never had a Shuttle before though.

All driveres and BIOS are up to date and for the network drivers I use the AMD/Intel16x network driver as recommended. I am not using Internet at all.
As mentioned bevore no Nvidia 6.70 driver is installed currently, is it even necessary as the NAM, Audio & IDE Drivers are not installed with this driver version?

I still assume it must be the Nvidia chipset driver 6.70. Someone knows when the next driver will be released?????

My friend mentioned to take out one graphic card first, to install the Nvidia Graphic driver (84.21) and then to re-install the second card otherwise the SLI will not be set properly, true?

....HELP.....anyone....please....

He shoulda let it run 24/7 for a few weeks if your all the way in thailand to be sure it works. But ok, try clearing the CMOS. After that, do a fresh install of windows with all the updated drivers from their respective websites. (yes it sucks but it might help)

Thanks for the reply Dillusion,

The machine was tested for a week with all benchmarks etc. it worked, but I will do clear the CMOS and re-install & format but I will wait for the new release of drivers, I assume it is the bloody chipset driver.

Anyway thanks, cheers.

Still Crashing

I am still crashing - HELP - its quite anoying. I tried different installation of older NVIDIA reference drivers like the AMD/Intel 16x, the 6.66 and the BETA driver for the 500 serie, but without luck.

Might there be a problem with the HD. I am not using raid, its a simple MAXTOR 300 GIG on IDE. Or might there a problem with the MainBoard?

HELP Anyone????????

did you do what i said, each one of them? im not talking about drivercleaner. Also when you install the nvidia chipset drivers, DONT install the SW IDE driver.

Not yet, will do it on the weekend, what about the SMBUS driver is this driver safe to install without any crashes or errors? please advice.

Further I dont think its the BIOS as it was withouth problems at home. I will re-install everything after a new format with running only one graphic card first, no 6.70 chipset driver (unless the SMBUS driver works) and a new SATA cable as I heard from several persons that this is might be an issue as well. Will keep you up to date after the weekend. Cheers.

Ok. I plugged-out one card and replaced the SATA cable. The system is stable. No error logs or data loss, but I can still not proper use WindowsXP;

It starts when I enter the BIOS where a red message appears whether BIOS asks to save the CMOS settings (its starts instantly with BIOS). When you enter no, it pops-up again, and again and never stops. Strange, I never saw this before as well when I’m in Windows and you open the explorer or other applications which has a menu bar on the top, the menu bar or part of it blinks/flickering all the time and never stops. If I want play Sim City 4 for instance the audio menu is continously popping-up and never stops and so are other applications where always the title/ menu bar is flickering and I can not use it.

Is this a problem with the WinXP Software now or with a hardware.

PLEASE HELP......
