Posting from this system right now. It runs just fine idle in any case. :D

I'll be back with results from the system under load... or not... depends on if this little PSU can take it. I hope so... has 44a in 12v rails. Just a matter of whether or not there are enough watts to go around...

Sweet, LMK if it's stable. I'm graduating soon and a 8800GTX would make me haaapppyy. How loud is it? Had to take out the CPU duct to make it fit? How are temps?
 
Nice man, surprise those actually fit in there :D, I have to get a sff pc meself one day :D.
 
Unlike the SN25P, the SN26P did not come with the air duct. On my SN25P I had removed it anyway.

As for noise, none in idle... really quiet. Still haven't put it under load, will in just a few minutes.
 
I won't actually be running this day to day, mainly doing it for a friend so he knows whether or not it will work if he shells out for an 8800GTX himself. He also got the SN26P. I'm going full size ATX w/ two of these bad boys in SLI. :D
 
I put the cover on and temps have risen a bit, for bot CPU and GPU @ idle. GTS might be the safer bet just for air flow.
 
Awesome. I saw on Shuttle's website that they are stuffing an 880GTS in the P2 chasis. I'm thinking of trying to fit one (or maybe the 8800GTX) in an SN27P. Once I get the card (once I decide on which one, GTS or GTX) I'll see if I can fit either into my wife's SN21G5.

Good work. Glad you took the risk and it worked out for you.
 
how about stability though, play some hl2 for an hour or two or something to test it pls?
 
I played NWN2 for about an hour. No problems so far. Had to go out and run errands, but I'll be getting hours of playing time in tonight on WoW in any case (guild run).

Definately not going to happen in your wifes G5, the PCI-E is on the opposite side as your P series. Meaning the heatsink which takes up a extra slot will be outside the chassis. You might fit it, but you won't be able to put the cover on. Also the G5 has a 250w PSU where as the P series has a 350w.
 
Thx... been running at about 48c cpu and 84c gpu tops over the last 4 hours playing WoW. Rock solid.
 
I've got something slightly disturbing to add... why does a loud chirp/beep issue from my SN26P when I shut it down just as the power goes out? Strange... I need to investigate further. Doesn't give me the warm fuzzies though.

Yeah, I cracked it open and took a look last night. I wasn't too worried about the PS, since I could always get one of them that is dedicated for video cards as an extra. I saw that someone (can't remember who) stuffed a 7800GTX in the G%, they just cut that side of the case to allow the HSF to go beyond the case.

As much as I like Shuttle's aesthetic appeal, I think I might go with the Lian-Li V300B. Thanks.

Is this since adding the 8800?

Keep us updated if you have any problems with the setup, been thinking about putting one in my 25p but didn't think it would have enough juice to run it.

Yeah, only started hearing this after I put the card in. Someone suggested its the fan winding down... but it seems like that would be a fast stop, since the sound doesn't last too long. We shall see.
 
For those interested in size with your current Shuttle or SFF system, time to break out those tape measures. It would be nice to have a chart of which systems will fit these bad boys

I don't think that PSU puts out 44 amps on the 12v rail. 44a*12v=528w
 
The Shuttle SN26P's 350W PSU has 4 12V rails. 2 @ 17A, 1 @ 10.5A and a 4th @ 0.8A. I just added up total amps... I'm no EE. nVidia suggest 30A minimum... and this little PSU works just fine under load for hours on end.
 
Ok well here is a little insight or what not on how it works.

Ok so this is the PSU I believe. On the label it doesn't give us a combined 12v output in amperage or wattage.....it does give us the combined 5v and 3.3v of 18w. So at full tilt we have 350w-18w=332w 332/12v=27.667a

That is at full 3.3v/5v utilization. Even not at full 3.3v/5v the max theoretical is 350w/12v=29.16667a

So the unit can't in theory output any more sustained than 29.1667a @12v as there as the rectifier that feeds those 12v rails is going to be capped by at or below the units total output rating. So the 12v is less tahn or equal to 29.1667 amps.
